NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hear hear! I started this thread to simply say how Simple Delivery has stopped me both buying and selling on eBay due to not trusting that delivery system both as a buyer and seller. Which tbh I have enjoyed doing over many years. It would be useful if responders didn’t hijack this thread and basic tenet.

Simple delivery should be optional!

Think they’ll be lots of changes with Yodel since it was sold in April not sure if for the better though.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If I want to list a pair of worn out socks for £100 collection in person
only buy it now then that is my choice. And under EBAY the ad refreshes
every few weeks. And it is free to list. And costs them money to maintain
my listings.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Always worth checking between the price on the Royal Mail app and the over
the counter price. It can often be quite significant. Understandable as the
shop has more overheads.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I would just post one item as “buy it now” with a silly price and
collection only and just leave it there. Costs EBay money to maintain your
account. Then once a month modify either the title or the description to
show your account is still used.

This could be the DEATH KNELL for low value items..

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Also if you ship small items internationally its worth checking if its a large letter because its sometimes cheaper on royal mail to send a large letter as a small parcel.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

the percentage increases that jhb7140 stated in that posting were wildly incorrect. Letter and large letter prices by standard post, as would be used for many low value items, are unchanged, and the increases for small and medium parcels by RM Tracked 48 online are relatively low, all under 4%.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If you choose large letter and select 48 hours tracking it is indeed more
expensive than choosing small parcel 48 hours tracking. Strange but true.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

My problem is still combined postage.  I sold 3 items, the buyer bought all individually, parcel labels are all under 2kg & combined weight is over 2kg.

Option 1 is to request the buyer cancel.  I've done this twice, I can't continue to do it because of the hassle & the time it takes messaging, waiting for replies & putting new listings up

Option 2 which I used this time.  One item was medium parcel, two small parcel.  I managed to get two items in one box but as the label was under 2kg it was impossible to get all three in.  I downloaded one label, boxed the two  items & stuck the label on to make sure I didn't inadvertently put the wrong label on the wrong box.  After doing both I had to input the tracking number from the medium box for the item whose label I didn't use.  So the buyer will get a refund (hopefully) for one label but has still overpaid.  How is this simple or fair on the buyer?

You have a conundrum, put all items which are under 1kg at 2kg so you can add items to one box but then if someone puts items in the basket before buying Ebay will charge medium postage by doubling the 2kg, or tell people to buy individually & hope you can reduce the postage by using fewer labels.

I've gone over the 1kg twice on the basis that Royal Mail doesn't charge extra for 2kg parcels, but it is making sales of more than one item to the same buyer frustrating & unnecessarily complicated.

Be careful... you might find you get a buyer happy to pop round for those.... 😂

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Absolutely nothing simple about having to do all that.

It really seems that the only interest is making as much as possible from seller or buyer.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I totally agree.

That's why I'll nearly always refer to it as SD because a lot of appropriate descriptive words for it begin with S.
