AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I think that that response was what is known as sarcasm.

Maybe, but there again it's eBay and I wouldn't put it past them.

Actually it was meant to be tongue in cheek(!), referencing the unrealistic posting times given by ebay, plus the fact that buyers only have to blink and ebay refunds them, to the detriment of the seller, AND let's them keep the goods!

Even at present you can't even look at a listing without getting a lot of notifications offering discounts off similar listings or notifications saying "you might like this".

Hi Blacksea @blacksea213 , I use 3 days which means I post every Monday & Thursday (assuming something to post of course). The day of purchase, and weekends and bank holidays do not count as part of the 3 days so I think it works well. Shorter times would not sit well with me though.

That feels very much like a customer problem, not an eBay one

I am unable to List item, due to simple selling. My item, in correct catagory is lager than the options, so i cannot list. Have spoke to eBay concierge, unable to help.

Currently items like yours, which should be exempt from Simple Delivery , the option for Custom Postage is not showing up, many are affected by this, and everyone is frustrated that it's taking SO long to fix.
Meanwhile there's a good workaround which works.
From the link below Go to Solution and see Rick's answer.

In regards to this simple delivery abomination and disrespectful policy As eBay has changed all of my 26 ads to simple delivery, my dispatch times and also postage costs If you are going to use this policy be very
careful to check the postage applied by eBay I have 26 ads on their website a lot of the boxes that I make are the same in size in different ads but eBay has applied a fluctuating price difference of £2.82 to £6.51 for postage on the same size box which weigh approx. 4kg each when packaged Now I have a box that has been purchased by a buyer and the postage applied by eBay is £2.82 which is incorrect for its weight I am sure that Royal mail check the weight of parcels and if in the event the proper postage is not applied what is going to happen to my parcel, I would assume royal mail will return the parcel to me if that happens while all this is going on bearing in mind I still at this point have not received the funds from the initial sale as eBay is holding the funds until 2 days after the item is delivered In Short I will not ship items from my workshop with the simple delivery format

In your position, you are making items to sell. If you changed from a private account to a business account, you would be able to select your own postage.

'.....I would assume royal mail will return the parcel to me......'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you send a parcel, under Simple Delivery, with the label/weight thought up by ebay's A.I. , not your own input weight, R.M. should honour that delivery without asking either you or the buyer to pay extra.
Ebay and R.M. kinda 'settle up at the end of the month' between themselves.
If, on the other hand, you put in your own weight and it's wrong, you or the buyer *will* have to pay up for the difference.
But, sorry, cobweb is right. If you're making things to sell, you should be on a business account.
(this does have it's upsides ; YOU are in charge of all your selling and posting.😊 But you do have to pay fees😒...)

While I fully respect your comment for the following reason I have never applied for a business account with eBay I do not reach anything near the plateau of sales to be VAT exempt While I have always reported my income thru my accountant to HMRC on my yearly income I am now 72 years of age on a pension and I only sell on here to make a few extra pounds to supplement that pension After over 50 years as a carpenter I have always enjoyed working with wood With your suggestion in mind how long is it going to be before eBay changes its policy's toward business sellers ? What will you do when they start making changes I have never seen a organisation change policies like they have especially in the last 12 months I paid seller fees to eBay, then they changed it to free to sell on eBay then they changed it to get payed after delivery Now its simple delivery and there is nothing simple about it I Somewhere in between all of this it appears to be incompetence or simply greed and I have had enough of the policy changes

They’ve been told that several times, but oddly never respond.
selective rule following I suppose.
25-07-2025 10:19 AM
With all respect. It's the law and you are breaking it.
If Ebay changes, which it does to evolve like any business, we change with it.
By the way, Alan Sugar is 78 years of age.

Yes after 10 years have removed listings until eBay restore the options that were acceptable by buyers and sellers .
eBay advised me they were still working on improvements and review options.
Partial upgrades to degrade a working system requires a new level of competence that I would have fired the
individual
eBay needs to listen

Hi all, Yes nearly all the items we sell are under £10, with ( what was ) £1.55 postage for Royal Mail Large Letter under 100gms. Now eBay wants to not only add the " Buyers Protection " cost, but also charge £3.55 for " Simple Delivery " and customers are simply not going to pay this as many of our items are only £1, it's just a way to make money disguised as something else. The most annoying thing is that Ebay think we are stupid enough not to see this, but we are their customers, so there is a chain, we don't sell anything, Ebay don't make any money. Also the inconvenience of Simple Delivery. Click and drop is so easy for us as we have everything set up and sorted. Ebay will hopefully not be too proud to reconsider this, if not other platforms are available to take up the sales.

As I stated in my last email I report all of my income to HMRC from my accountant so I do not see how you feel I am breaking the law furthermore I have talked to HMRC and they know that I manufacture items and sell them on eBay so I If was breaking any the law I am sure that HMRC would have told me Anyway I just tried deleting all of my 26 ads on eBay and they will not let me do it So I will simply promptly cancel any orders that I receive. Possibly eBay does not feel that I am serious about no longer selling on their website

You aren’t really serious about it though are you? You’ve been told the solution to your problem, but are ignoring it.
you are a business seller.
