AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I’m a business and thinking of pulling mine down hardly any sales except 7 yesterday. Just want to step away from eBay but continue selling somewhere else.

Ebay used to be a great place for us to sell and the funds were used for long weekends away or other luxuries/treats. Now we have to fund those ourselves.
Nowadays i just see the site as a chore and all the funs gone out of it. I consider myself fairly bright but still cannot get my head around Simple Delivery when listing when it comes to postage......I cannot get the correct postage no matter what i tick 😞
Everything has just become too complicated for my old brain 😞
I have never used the likes of V. We just go to official sites online and buy direct.......eg Arne for everyday clothing

I've not seen BPF actually just called a fee.
I guess they call it BPF to make buyers think they are actually getting something for the extra cost.
It is confusing because I tried figuring it out and I'm sure that if a buyer makes a lower counter offer that is accepted the seller ends up losing out a bit because the BPF is taken out of what would receive.
I hope a seller will clarify if that is right or say if that's happened to them ?.

Its totally confusing. I recently sold an item NOT under simple delivery. I quoted on the listing postage.
SD was an option after the item had sold but not paid for. It also asked me who would be liable for the postage.....me or the buyer.
The buyer paid shortly after the listing ended and after much scrolling down the page i found their address and was able to add my own RM tracking number.

I'm not surprised that there are so many things happening behind closed doors that they don't want normal sellers or buyers to know about.
I made some posts back in early April not long after I started this thread that SD would be terrible, and it would affect plenty of private sellers who then in turn would start buying less on here, and i said it would eventually start affecting a good few Business Sellers as sales would start dropping.
I didn't want bad things to happen to anyone but it looks like that has actually started happening.

As a ex private seller who stopped selling in April because of SD i actually hardly buy on here anymore compared to buying quite often previously.
Less sellers selling leads to less options for potential buyers, who I'm guessing are looking elswhere instead of just looking here.

You are right.
This platform is not fun anymore regarding selling or buying.
Even though I regularly create dummy listings just to see if SD would be viable for me to start selling again it just does not work for me.
It is a complete shambles here now and the worst thing of all is that it has been self inflicted because of all these recent changes that have spoilt what used to be a great platform.

My house is overflowing with things i could list............shame i cannot work out how to list with the proper postage under SD 😞 I cannot send a heavy 70 piece gold plated cutlery set in a leather case for just a few pounds !
Now things have finally calmed down in real life a bit .......i may try and get my head around it all in the next week or so 🙂

I only sold signed cd's from my collection and a lot of them cost me over £10 and I know to send them by large letter. But even trying to just get what I paid for them is a nightmare because of BPF charges to buyers and higher postage costs for me because of SD, selling isn't a option for me at present.
Plus I also sold some Silver coins from my collection.
I don't see why I should sell either at a loss and I'm not profit driven either.

I actually received a notification this morning saying the platform has enrolled me onto the Global Shipping Programme which at no stage have I ever requested ?.
The notification made me laugh 🤣 because I'm not even selling within the UK on here at the moment.
So not only can they alter a sellers listings they can introduce fees and change things when they want and enrol you onto things.

See if Rick's answer in Go to Solution in the link below, will help. Bit of a faff , but it's a workaround that works, for heavy items! 🤗

I have been selling on eBay since 2010 Now eBay has changed all of my listings to simple delivery to add insult they did this without prior notification There is now a different price range from £3.38 to £5.61 for the same size boxes in different ads which is the wrong postage I have a direct Royal mail account for 15 years without any problems Why does eBay constantly change policies ? An old saying if it isn't broken don't try to fix it I have 100 % positive feedback with some wonderful comments from my customers but I have had enough of these ridiculous policy changes which started with payed 2 days after delivery
I had always enjoyed selling on eBay but now I do not have any faith or trust in their website The disrespectful manner on how they treat private sellers also reflects to my customers who are also treated in the same manner eBay should have a look at the reviews on Trust Pilot where there is about 86% of negative comments comments I will soon deleting all of my ads and I will no longer be selling or buying anything on eBay

It's disgusting that all that has been done to you.
The platform has become absolutely diabolical.
It has got to the point where this platform can do literally what they want, when they want, with no real advance notice or no notice whatsoever.
Plus they expect users to trust and believe them and carry on as if none of this matters or effects people.
So much for the announcement that sticks in my mind saying "we are introducing changes that will benefit everyone".
That has to be the most laughable statement ever.

Ebay have changed all your listings to SD as you have declared that you are a private seller......

So what is their excuse for enrolling me onto the Global Shipping Programme without even checking to see if I want to be enrolled.
I have not been selling within the UK since April so why should I be interested in the Global Shipping Programme ? as I am only a now ex private seller
19-07-2025 11:48 AM
Just switch it off if you don't want it.
19-07-2025 11:55 AM
My point is they shouldn't have just done it in the first place. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that if someone hasn't been selling since April why would they want to be enrolled in Global Shipping.
Or is it just a case of showing they can do what they want anytime they want. This is when to much control actually starts being creepy.

Business Seller Account and problem solved, well at least the BPF and simple delivery part of it anyway
