AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Thank god I didn't have that issue as a buyer or seller back then.
Nice to find out that back then greed mongers were still there.
Yes I agree that there have actually been some improvements compared to back then.
The only downside now is the battle to get past the automated A.i in place to eventually get to speak to a human.

I'm old school and politeness is something I was taught.
Just to clarify things. Not everyone posts but they leave kudos, and so i like to thank new names that appear in my notifications.
It's absolutely nothing to do with any goals or targets.
I did not even think about things like that .
I started a discussion thread for private sellers to try and gain info and to try and help other private sellers.
Of course your entitled to post your opinion but I stand by what I was taught when growing up.

That's rather unfair - even if you look back to the posts when I advocated closing the thread down, I did acknowledge that it contained a lot of good info; the problem was that is was impossible to find, in amongst all the nonsense.

Thank you.
I was brought up not dragged up. Manners and common sense are definitely lacking on here.
At my age politeness, manners, and common sense are still important to me.
Just like me saying I am no longer selling due to it not being viable for me as it is now. I don't believe in paying more for less.
And if this thread has helped other private sellers then I'm glad.

You must admit that well over half of your own posts are pretty pointless, polite or not, and it does look VERY like you're just going for some sort of record. It does rebound on you - someone comments "Wow! over 7,000 posts, there must be something there" and then another poster points out that 1500 (a guess) of them are from the OP, adding nothing at all to the conversation, and probably a similar amount are just a small group all patting each other on the back, and the impact of the thread lessens greatly. 7,000 posts, and probably less than half of them add anything, and many of those are totally irrelevant.

I do agree with you regarding there are a lot of nonsense posts including bickering between posters. That is not aimed at you by the way.
The reason I have said it is still very useful is because I still get given kudos daily from names I've not seen before or who have not posted.
I don't know if you get notifications regarding who gives kudos to who but it shows that this thread is useful to a lot of people.
And yes I have given you kudos for your post.

To some extent I agree BUT I have not been as active as I was and i always glance at my notifications before deleting them.
Yes sometimes I'll make a post agreeing with a post and sometimes I'll berate a post I see.
As for goals and targets that has not crossed my mind.
That is to much of a business mentality for me.

Hello rugbyguy1960 …. 7500+ replies and increasing. Kudos notifications on a daily basis.
It is obvious that the majority of these replies are constructive and informing.
It appears there are 2/3 who have posted at least a dozen times plus each who seem to want to berate this thread. They may have an agenda probably envy.
Good on you rugbyguy1960 … yours is one thread some of us look out for.

I'd like to add that yes maybe the number of informative posts is reduced but then again there are a lot of users that leave kudos for posts they agree with or find useful without actually making a post.
They wouldn't give kudos for nothing and so that makes the true number unknown so no-one including me actually knows the ongoing total.

10,000 posts? Let's see how big the thread is if SD gets rolled out to business sellers!
There's been three major revenue raising changes for private sellers this year and we're barely six months into 2025. Would they dare go for more? If not, who's next in the firing line?
If Ebay deem the SD assault on private sellers a success no doubt some bright spark in ebay Towers will soon have an epipthany and extol its virtues being enforced on business sellers too.

Thank you. Your post means a lot.
All this talk of goals and targets is typical business mentality just like we get from this platform.
The main point I absolutely stand by is this platform as it has now become is not viable for me at present as a seller or buyer.
I will not be told I need to pay more for less.
I am interested in knowing if everyone who gets notifications gets told who leaves kudos for who because I honestly don't know.

That is a bit of a "you were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off" argument from Starmer et all. Making things worse cannot be blamed on the past. This is Eve's plan to appease the shareholders which is probably going to go down like a proverbial lead balloon. If it doesn't, appart from being very surprised, i will "Vote Eve" at the next election!
And give her "kudos"... i hate that word, can we stick with thumbs up?

I personally think that SD has been in the planning for a few years now because why else in the postage section of the listing would ebay have wanted to know what the size and weight is.
I never did fill them in as I thought it was of no concern to ebay.

I believe it was always intended for business sellers. Applying it to private sellers is a way of testing it - we are expendable, business sellers are not.
13-07-2025 2:26 PM
That wouldn't surprise me.
The only thing that I believe is that private sellers helped this platform get to where it is today.
Albeit that it has been turned into a mess.
The positive thing is that if private sellers helped this platform get to where it is then hopefully in time it can happen somewhere else.

I've been away from the board for a couple of weeks and just caught up with this thread.
Nice to see ebay's still on fire with angry users from the SD imposition.
I sold 4 items to the same buyer in 2 orders yesterday (at full price, lucky me) and thankfully none were SD so I was able to refund the duplicate postage and put the same tracking reference into each order.
I'm down to around 150 listings here now and my spare room is looking clearer. A few have SD because I needed to edit them. I've lost track of if ebay are still 'violating' existing listings with SD but I really want to get more stuff sold before that happens. I crave a minimalist lifestyle.
The clothing place is working out well for me both buying and selling so thanks for the push-off ebay.

Agree, probably only a matter of time.
The EBay community appears to be declining; business sellers are closing their shops as the rising fees and disappearing customers make stores unviable, private sellers and buyers are rushing to other platforms (whilst taking delight at Ebay's struggles!).
So, for eBay to maintain it's income levels it has to fleece its remaining customer base, those sellers and purchasers that choose to stay, with even more fees.
