AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Good point. One could see though why so many things got added to this thread. It is about the new delivery system, but this new system has been the last straw for so many of us, following the nonsensical fees and delayed payments, and anything else now only adds more aggravation to what is already a problematic selling on ebay.

There' was an undercurrent of passive aggression last week. Mercifully short though.
But on the whole I feel a tad sorry for their impossible position, then I'm baffled by some new SD or BPF wrinkle and feel sorry of us instead!

Yes I heard they have withdrawn request total / invoicing and worst the refund comes from the accessible account balance of previous items I sold as of course I don't get access to the money on the items that buyer purchased until some time after delivery.
24 years, 100% feedback the whole time (not just the past 12 months), never cost ebay a penny of their own money in refunds and their anti-fraud methods are so borked they still don't trust me. I'm still annoyed that business sellers who have say 95% feedback (that's 1 in 20 transactions leaving they buyer unhappy) get all these extra 'most trusted seller' notes on their feedback pages.
Ebay really are awful, nothing they change is ever fair or straightforward, it's like being under constant attack but at least the forum is fun.

Not to mention the traders that claim they are based, for example, in Sheffield, but all the sellers name, address and phone number details are in China. I reported one and eBay said there was nothing wrong. eBay are complicit in the misrepresentation of good by traders, because traders can do nothing wrong in eBay's eyes, and it's about time Trading Standards took a look at some of the sellers and products.

SIMPLE DELIVERY did combine postage for three lots but over charged the postage ,CS said its for the buyer to get the refund but would they think to do so ? but now Ebay are overcharging ever one anyway ? ,so i can not list anything as SD post id all at medium parcel prices ?

There are some new postal charges from tomorrow for Simple Delivery, and it seems some different prices for small and medium sized items.
For items sold between £0-100
Item weight & size | Both couriers selected | EVRi only | Royal Mail only |
1kg large letter | £2.70 | £2.94 | £2.72 |
0-1kg small and medium parcel | £2.94 | £2.96 | £3.38 |
1-2kg small parcel | £3.38 | £4.06 | £3.38 |
1-2kg medium parcel | £3.71 | £4.06 | £5.15 |
2-10kg parcel | £5.21 | £5.64 | £6.65 |
10-20kg parcel | £7.19 | £10.80 |

I thought this thread was about simple delivery.
It would be great if the mentors/advocates (or whatever they are called) could help steer things back onto topic rather than further away. Obviously people are only trying to be helpful, but staying on topic would be best, surely? Otherwise the impact of the thread could be diluted and I'm sure nobody would want that.
There's nothing wrong with taking a slight detour, but the last few pages are about everything other than simple delivery.

What they are looking for, is you buying and selling lots of Brand New similar items, selling loadsa new clothes/shoes all of different sizes, selling things with 'choose your size/colour' options, selling lots of 'consumables' that are logically impossible to be second-hand (like cosmetics, pet-food, skin creams, even sweeties!)
Exactly this.
It did make me laugh though. At a car boot sale some years ago a woman asked me why all my shoes were size 4 and asked if I had any in a 6. She was a bit embarrassed when I explained that they were my shoes and I take a 4. 😄
Just before this SD nonsense I was about to start selling some of my clothes here. They’d only need to look at my purchase history on here to work out where I got it all from (and over how many years, not “buying up” to sell). Like many people I search for the brands I like that I know will fit me, so I’d have lots of certain brands but also only in one or two sizes, with no duplicates.

"Ebay really are awful but at least the forum is fun."
You have a very strange sense of humour. I don't find it fun at all, I come here to get information on the latest disaster. Judging by 5,000+ posts (which I don't intend reading), ebay have surpassed all records with SD.
@lavenderthimblebunny @parsley2003
The Wednesday hour also isn't my idea of fun. Someone higher up in ebay who forces those staffers to try to defend the indefensible and evade the knives probably spent their truancy pulling the wings off flies.

Just changed my draft listing which I had down as custom postage to "live" to see what would happen, only left it live for a few minutes as a test before removing it. Clicked on the unsold tab to re-list and was at first given the simple delivery option although once again I was able to change to custom postage. I'm dubious about leaving anything on live as I'm convinced once the sale goes through I'll be changed to simple delivery again.

Thanks for the new rates. So to clarify:
1. These new rates will be from tomorrow, 21st, rather than today (i.e. NOT the 20th)?
2. And this strange made-up RM small parcel rate of £3.64 that keeps appearing and shouldn't (not in either the new rates nor the old ones) will presumably also stop doing so?
Keeping fingers crossed... 😉
20-05-2025 1:21 PM
Ah the 21st not the 20th have never seen goalposts moved so much, i wonder how many more months this will drag on, maybe into the next year?
20-05-2025 1:28 PM
Keep shifting the goalposts is probably an unintentional consequence. They wouldn't be gaslighting us.

Unintentional ....hmm

That is my fear have put some back on but have to constantly check, pointless anyway have sold 1 item in 7 days.
20-05-2025 1:49 PM
I just don't want to have to go through the hassle of possibly being forced to use SD when a sale goes through which is a shame because I would still like to offer the buyers who are interested in my items the opportunity to get something they want. 🤞for an about turn but I doubt it.
20-05-2025 1:49 PM
Eeek my bad those changes are from today, the 20th! Where on earth did I lose a day ? Could have sworn today was the 19th ! 🙄
Though dare I ask, is everyone seeing those new prices today? 🤔
Soz again, 20th was the change for those prices!
20-05-2025 1:50 PM
Again new postage rates tomorrow ? but are they going to rectify todays overpricing ? what is £3.64 for 1kg & £5.15 for 2kg anyway ? are these staying or changing again are we getting a small parcel price how is anyone expected to sell any thing when its being charged all the time? (just had the second train crash and here comes the third .

I hope you don't mind me saying parsley2023, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Not a criminal in my mind, best wishes to you.

This would be better as a new thread simply because it is hard to keep track of so many messages now etc and whilst it is still a gripe it is a gripe of a different nature imo
