NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So now SD has made it possible for buyers to barter based on finding cheaper postage too. Would you accept the full item price but with a buyer's choice of delivery instead of Ebay's?

Far from making an offer becoming completely redundant (through buyer fee-related confusion) it feels like everything is now up for grabs. Perhaps we'll have 2 separate offer buttons? There's a development for later in the year? 😂

It’s become as clear as mud as it is, please don’t give them anymore ideas 😂

They are getting paid to make things worse. How sad is that!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Couple of times I've read that sellers or buyers wouldn't have to pay a surcharge if Ebay gets the postage wrong by underestimating weight/size.  Several weeks ago I contacted RM for them to confirm this and I've just received a reply saying Ebay are wrong and buyers will pay a surcharge and admin fee for any underpaid parcels.

I've popped my items back on as still able to list without SD but its costing me more as RM now charge for collection!  Wonder why some have SD forced upon them and others can still choose.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Obviously, block out any personalised info on your response from RM, but I'm sure we'd all be really interested to see how that is phrased, as it goes totally against what eBay/RM/PO have been saying since day 1.

"Wonder why some have SD forced upon them and others can still choose "

Maybe they are conducting an in house survey and monitoring how many sellers voluntarily choose SD when given a choice and who jumps ship or stops selling when there is no option..

It's not just the choice of SD though and many friends and family i've spoke to all have differing versions on their selling form with a mix and match of variations on the actual postage options, postage times etc and some haven't even changed format at all from before all this nonsense was introduced.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Couldn't agree more & am now giving away things to charity shops, despite their value.  The "Simple" delivery is anything but & the only, & I mean only, reason for its existence is for eBay to pocket more money from the carriers offered.   The system is so full of flaws it is unbelievable.

The latest is their claim that the maximum volume of parcel is 245cm.  That is utter nonsense & leaves everyone ignorant of what the new volume restriction actually is.

There appears to be no way to combine carriage & no way to add a "signature" by the courier, which means they have to evidence the delivery in some way - a feature I always use on expensive items & also in many urban areas.

eBay are even using Parcel2Go to publicise this wondrous system & the delights of changing an id to a Business Seller & going right back to the 30p/listing situation that they gave up.

All to make them like Amazon when they don't have the resources of Amazon.  A shame eBay didn't instead decide to emphasise their edge over Amazon, in the potentially lucrative & varied market of collectables & antiques offered by private sellers

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Was tinkering around on the mobile this morning (trying to see what listings look like on a phone) and found all the custom postage options are there, yet listing on the laptop it will only offer SD!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I dont blame you . EBay has gone downhill gradually over the last few years.  If you got anything to sell , get it local on Markplace . You'd sell your granny on there

I've had all sorts of issues with people who have bought from me . Not only that , the customer service is disgusting and all you do is get sent on a wild goose chase trying to contact them .

You've probably done yourself a favour.   I've sold an item last week and the buyer changed the delivery to a parcel shop , its been there 6 days and until he collects it , Ebay hold onto your funds.   Ive waited 17 days prior to this before Ive seen payments released.  If a buyer cant collect the item within 3 days, then dont bid . ... simple

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I stopped listing on 7th, restarted a few weeks later as it was still custom.  Then they transferred everything to SD but i found i could still switch to Custom, which i have done.  I just keep checking that they have not gone back overnight, apparently tomorrow is a big day for some reasons that we are not privy to yet on what will happen to things.   Made two sales so far and they were just posted as i used to.

A box measuring 10 by 10 by 10cm is already 1000 cubic cm so not sure how 245 is supposed to work. Sounds more like the volume of a letter?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Agree with your comments. Have given lots to charity shops, I also sell for others and have said to them that they can sit on my listings if they wanted their items to do so and can wait for a decent price, getting a bit fed up with stupid offers. Would rather my local charity shop made some money from the bits and pieces instead of ………. I am sure you can fill in the blanks 😁.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

There are some older messages, not sure how long ago as I was ‘unable to participate for a good while on this forum’ (I will let you guess why) and unable to access for some time but quite a few people have said that some of their parcels were refused at the post offices due to being the incorrect postage for weight. Also some have said buyers have actually been charged for excess which is what RM have always done if postage underpaid.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have relisted some and made one sale which i could still post my own way. Sad though the buyer fee has really put people off. I also closed my shop which i had from the start so people probably think i have left for good

So many decent buyers (and there are quite a few) have gone or thinking of going. It may all come crashing down at some point the ways things are going

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You can put a message on your account so that people will know you are still around, it acts like an automated message that they will see if they message you. It may help you to assure your buyers that you are still around.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

They want to sell high value stuff forgetting that we made this what it is (or was). I just want to treat my buyers fairly and be able to combine postage. It's a real pain if someone pays for 10 things separately and i have to refund postage on 9 and still wait days for that money to come to me. SD doesn't allow for postage refunds because Ebay get the money but we will get the bad feedbacks

Worth a go, you will get messages and can then explain to your buyers. In response to your last message, yes the majority of us want to treat our buyers fairly, that’s why we most of us have a loyal folllowing
