AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

They are trying to ensure that all postage goes through ebay at maximum profit by pushing volume to Evri even if it's completely inappropriate because they have probably made some huge spend or volume commitment to them to get the lowest postage costs. Rough estimate is ebay might be making 50p to £1 on each Evri postage sale. It's in ebay's business plans that this happens and most people use Evri.
SD enables ebay to report expanding revenues and margins to the shareholders despite the platform transaction volumes being in decline which makes it looks like the management are doing a great job even if they are silently killing the business.

I have removed all my listings today
Simple delivery is the final straw, eBay should also stop buyer protection, and stop free selling for Private Sellers(I am a Private Seller) just charge a 4 or 5% Final Valuation Fee across the board, and let people just use the Postage System they want too...

Agree 100% with your “wants” from the past to be reintroduced.
However, it would be a big portion of humble pie from eBay.

Evri has cut down on amount of parcel shops (my local PO for example, they don't create enough bussiness apparently🙄) and no longer using lockers, putting helluva pressure on existing ones.
And my last parcel took a week! to arrive to buyers parcel shop.

I have no idea what's going on with SD. I still have the option to use Custom Postage currently so I am still listing items. If SD was mandatory I wouldn't be.

WHAT a surprise, said no one ever!!!

As a buyer I've had it a couple of times where the package seems to get lost at the seller's dispatch shop. You can see from the item tracking that they were scanned in but never get collected by the Evri driver. I try not to buy from sellers that use Evri as they are really poor quality so don't particularly want ebay hiding the name of the carrier behind Standard and Express postage options. I've seen a few posts from sellers happy with SD as they use Evri anyway but their buyers might not be happy.

Personally I rarely use evri anymore, but some buyers from v-site do use it.

"i am at a loss at what ebay is trying to achieve"
According to the CEO of ebay, they are trying to achieve the following:
- attracting luxury high value items for sale, together with high-income buyers. This means a cull of private sellers selling low-cost items, because all the "car boot" stuff gives the wrong image.
- Simple Delivery - or "managed shipping" as it is known at Head Office - has been launched as a "revenue stream" (the exact words of the CEO). Any suggestion that it's to benefit users is merely window dressing .

I have all postage options enabled over there, in over 200 sales my experience is that most buyers use Evri and InPost with Yodel as the third most popular. It is a surprise when anyone chooses Royal Mail.
It seems to be down to price and the convenience of the door to store / locker options that are easy to choose and feels more streamlined than on here.
Maybe eBay will expand their simple delivery and fix the issues but I think it is really difficult to make it as smooth because they are a lot more hands on. I’ve been reading this thread on and off along with some updates they have been making and it all seems to be getting convoluted. eBay don’t really do simple do they.

Im thinking the same thing, simple delivery is terrible, 22 years as a seller with 100 percent positive fb now mor red tape from ebay, trying to sell overseas is now a total joke.

I gave up selling items to Europe a long time ago, and now because of these recent changes I'm not even selling things within the UK.
I cannot think of one incentive to relist any items here and I've been on here for 20 years and it's never been as bad as it is now.

And there's no chance that high end users will come here and stay here once they realise and find out what it's like.

Maybe this time they'll fix something that was actually broken.
07-05-2025 7:13 PM
I think anyone looking at this sensibly won't have a clue about what's going on.

In a ideal world that would be so welcome.
The reality is things at the moment are about as far from ideal as they can be.

I really don't blame you and it's so sad that you are yet another person that has been made to feel that enough is enough.

That's good advice and a good post.

The soul destroying advent of Simple Delivery is about to devastate private sellers like myself.
After 25 years of eBay membership and with 100% perfect feedback I am now ready to throw in the towel. It is obvious that eBay wants to get rid of private sellers. Buyer protection fees and now forcing Simple Delivery on us.
I am partially disabled and cannot get to drop off locations to post my orders. There is a Royal Mail post box 20 yards from my front door which was perfect for me and worked well until now. That option is over.
So, well done eBay I give up now and will stop selling.
I worked in IT for 50+ years and the most important thing I ever learned about business is "Don't bite the hand that feeds you".
So much for Customer loyalty, you should be ashamed.

Rebranding eBay will be a steep hill to climb, it would be easier for him to start a new platform if he wants that for the future. Has he even looked at the list of company's on the their vero list, its like war and peace.
