NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I've made sure that won't happen to me because I do not intend to relist anything.

No doubt there will be yet more changes to come that definitely won't all be for the better.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Thank you.

I only ended my listings because I don't agree with having to post items using SD. The system I used worked perfectly otherwise i wouldnt have had 100% positive feedback ratings from humans. I also don't agree with having to pay more for postage.

BPF is a farce which caused my sales to drop drastically.

Although I didn't like it I accepted having my money held but even then I had no option.

But until, and if things don't go back to being more normal I will not be relisting items here.

Happy birthday for a few day time.

I always self-identify as 21 on my birthdays as it's probably the best age.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Has any one from Ebay even been to Evri parcel shop. Its a mess absoulte mess and they are piling more work for the shop keeper who give this service as a side line. Ebay say they have been listening, I guess ebay need a hearing Aid now.

ebay say the below:

Last month, we shared that Simple Delivery will be the only delivery option available for private sellers when listing eligible items. We’ve been listening to your feedback whilst rolling out this change, and are introducing a new parcel size option and new postage rates for Simple Delivery, which will come into effect on 20 May, 2025. We’re also working on bringing you even more of the features you’ve requested, and we’re adding a lower-cost option this month where buyers can collect their orders from Evri parcel shops.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

"After listening to your feedback about the services that matter most to you, we’re introducing ‘0-2kg small’ parcel size options to provide you with a lower price point. We recommend reviewing and amending your live listings that use small or medium parcels from 20 May, to make sure you’re offering your buyers the best prices. For example, if you have a 1-2kg medium parcel, you can change this to a 0-2kg small parcel if the dimensions fit. You’ll be able to amend this from your Active Listings or View Item page. To get the most competitive prices, consider enabling all couriers by going to postage preferences in your account settings."

Being more than a bit cynical have they done this because RM have had it in the neck from  the PO's about the amount of over sized packages etc, and all they have  actually done is listen to the Royal Mail rather than their  disgruntled customers .

So basically all Ebay are adding is the traditional RM small packets weight and dimensions limits  in 2 weeks time , big deal  !!!!!

Hold on a minute isn't  the idea of SD is that EBay set the postage price for the buyer   now  and isn't down to AI to work this out  !!!

For SD to be what Ebay claim it to be then all I have to do as a seller is list the item , and then pack it, if ever sells and  then lend Ebay my money for a week or so while they earn interest on it .

I've been trying out a lot of different delivery services and options (just for variety and fun) since shifting a proportion of my purchases to another place. Yesterday I collected an Evri item from Tesco around 30mins after it arrived and they just had a complete mess of parcels around 1m high to dig in and fish mine out of. The layout of these places is not designed for the job. They ideally need some kind of shelving system to somehow organise the items.

I suppose that if ebay are guessing the shipping size of an item they'll err on the side of caution and choose medium parcel and potentially charge buyers more than necessary. So then it's down to the seller to adjust down to small parcel if they are sure it will fit - and as I understand it in that case if the parcel is over size any extra charge will end up on the seller rather than ebay.

Yes looking at the structure of the tables I think they have accepted that users don't want the combined small and medium 2KG parcel rate as it was originally adding nearly a quid onto the cost of small parcels. So the promotion is on the combined rate while it still exists (for sub £100 items) before they can split it out properly. Weirdly they will still keep a combined rate on 0-1KG but as a seller what's to stop you saying a small parcel is 2KG to get the lower rate? I have some old bricks in the garage that I could include free to reduce the postage costs.

On the chat today @caerleon1959  pointed out that the table has 0-1 kg costing more than 1-2kg and ebay's Kat followed up to say that the rates are incorrect and will be fixed.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Not going to happen, all these companies are opting to increase revenue not make it their only revenue.  All these shops are total mess have no clue whats what, just random search not to mention the time and pain it takes to get the item. Ebay are so disconnected from their own business it’s shocking.

View the new rates

Just looked at this and i was right ,they have compensated for there mixup on medium parcels and prices have gone up for medium parcels (& its for there benefit & not ours )

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I don't think  anyone from Ebay is now allowed out  without permission  , in case they learn how things actually  happen in the real world .

One of my concerns with dropping off at Evri is the parcels are often not stored securely or even safely

On serious point , how does an Evri collection point or any other collection set-up impact the payment delay , as if the payment is not made until after collection is made then  Ebay earn even more interest on sellers money .

Unless Ebay pay me immediately the courier receives  the item then  the item remains my property until payment is received and as a seller its another reason I would cancel a sale . ( Providing I am actually selling , which I am not , and currently have no intention of doing until Ebay stop being idiots )

It really is not getting any better !

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

For anyone who is still selling , I would encourage you put a disclaimer clearly in any listing that as the seller you reserve  the right to cancel any sales due to the implication of SD and delayed payment etc.

If the seller is not paying for the postage then strictly speaking the item is not insured in the sellers name and you as  don't receive payment until the courier you did not pay delivers it .  The concept of not being paid before parting with your goods is fraught with risk and Ebay say very little about  actual seller protection

There will be instances arise where the seller is left out of pocket as a result of courier issues and drop off points are a risk especially some Evri shops

Prior to delayed payment in did not matter where you sent it

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I collected an item from Tesco years ago that I'd bought online.  Took about 5 mins to find it. Now, as I say that was years ago. Lord knows what it's like today.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I’m curious to know why the threshold for SD higher prices is £100.00, when RM tracked 48 covers items up to £150.00? Perhaps just another way to squeeze more money out of everyone to increase their profits.  Not that it really matters as I have no intention of ever using Simply Stupid Delivery.

Yeah I spotted that mismatch too. I guess they didn't want to align to RM size and compensation values (£20 large letter, £150 tracked48, etc) given this whole project was supposed to push everyone to use Evri parcels but then it's kinda necessary to align given the sheer volume of buyers and sellers who will still use RM for various good reasons as has been explained extensively over the past 5-6 weeks.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hi there

i am at a loss at what ebay is trying to achieve. I always go to my local post office - that is simple postage.  Never ever had a problem.  I think to force sellers is utterly appalling.  I will be reducing the price of my items to clear them, the bye bye ebay - sad after nearly 20 years.
