AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Have they sorted BPF ?
I don't think so at all. The dog's breakfast is still being served up with lashings of dissatisfaction and lumpy gravy.
Unless they roll back to private seller fees and custom delivery I don't think ebay will repair the damage and loss of trust.
A lot of private sellers had no idea about these ludicrous changes until they sold something recently. Will they sell again after jumping through the hoops?
We won't know because ebay won't admit anything and the sellers won't come on here to tell us. But we can guess.

As you said, "They'll only be viable if a whole load of people do it." Although that particular site has managed to survive for 20 years largely because a load of stamp and postcard sellers decamped to it years ago when ebay tried to impose some restrictions on their postage options in the past.
In some ways it's a better site for selling the sort of slower selling Collectables that ebay now seems determined to get rid of. I've said it often enough on here that people buy my glass there because they can find it . No bias in the search towards Sponsored listings or quick selling 'new in a box' goods. The only reason things sell slower is because so few people know about it and use it regularly.
If it establishes a more widespread reputation for being a place to find those rare, obscure and quirky collectables that ebay was once famous for, it could easily become something like the 'old' ebay, before it became so fixated with businesses selling mass produced new stuff. It certainly isn't full of businesses demanding restrictions on private sellers and how many items they can list or how they sell them.
It might be a bit primitive by today's standards, but is that necessarily a drawback? Private sellers don't really need all the analytics and statistics that businesses do, but which we all have to pay for one way or the other. Nor do they have provide shareholders with endless returns that require regular fee increases which, at the end of the day, is what the BPF, Payment Holds and 'Simple' Delivery are really all about.
If enough 'little people' took the leap of faith it might just possibly become a sanctuary for person to person buying and selling, free from the pressures of greed driven US corporations. Like ebay started-out as.

"They" are kicking the very dented can down the road now..the 14th has become the 28th..what date next?
It's all unbelievably Amateurish for what I thought was supposed to be a big company.

My recent experience proved eBay are charging £3.42 to post an item, small box which Evri normally charge £2.94. So they are scamming the buyers.
I have no control over the postage.
also I used to offer special delivery which I can no longer do with SD.
in some cases I can’t add my own parcel dimensions to get more accurate postage.

Three weeks since last update on this SD all this stress ,still a mess ,but all my sales are still as normal ? so will the order details be different with SD and will i know when it kicks in as postage is still being paid to me at the moment ,? so still ordering with royal mail click & drop (pickup)

I've noticed Simple Delivery goes from 100g to 20kg. When you select the postage it says "Looking for heavier or larger package options?" and links to 'custom postage'. What would happen if I claim every item I sell is 21kg?
Second question, the Large Letter postage is limited to 1kg yet Royal Mail limit these to 750g. What happens when RM inevitably charge the buyer the unpaid postage on a Large Letter weighing 755g? Can I even get it processed through the Post Office? Normally their system automatically rejects packages if the weight exceeds the postage paid (I have to repack at least one parcel a month because I've gone over by a couple of grams).

I tried using freight for a large item but kept flicking back to postage only ? (but its to big )

Why? What exactly is wrong with ignoring the stupid system and just sending an item, paying for the postage yourself if necessary? Get buyers address, send item, message them the tracking number (or say you can't give a number but will keep track of it yourself). It's going to be covered by whatever postage you use too so it's not as if you're risking anything.

The only setback would be if tracking cannot be manually entered, then the payout would be held for 14 days.
Some I'm sure would not mind the hold, but others I'm sure would.

RM is now up to 1kg for tracked large letter, it changed in the recent increases earlier this month. This might help you.

Plus buyer is still paying buyer protection for no protection. This is the biggest scam I have seen which needs to stop or be optional.

Royal Mail tracked is now the same price for any weight LL up to 1kg
the untracked 1st and 2nd class you can buy outside SD go up to 750g
as for saying your parcel weighs 21kg to qualify for custom postage
who knows what might happen if you charged 1.55 say
try it and see lol
some of your items probably qualify for exemption anyway
look at the categories they’re allowing to be sent custom now
scroll down to opting out and click on the + sign by categories

"RM is now up to 1kg for tracked large letter, it changed in the recent increases earlier this month."
While this appears to be true if you book through the Royal Mail online website, the new leaflet prices still show it as up to 750g when purchased at a post office.

Ahh thanks, I'd assumed "The option to opt out and select Custom postage instead will only be available for letter-sized items in the specific categories below that are priced £10 and under." referred to flat letters rather than large letters, but I'm guessing that's wrong. Yes, almost everything that I'm selling falls under the toys or DVDs category.
23-04-2025 2:34 PM
Logically large letters are allowed now
a) you can’t send a dvd in an envelope e.g.
b) before this latest amendment to help pages on simple delivery it had said LLs will require SD…this has now disappeared

Think many don’t know about the petition. Just a reminder. Got lost in all these pages.
