NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Especially in view of the wording in the email 'introducing' us to the then forthcoming new system:

"Simple Delivery is our all-in-one delivery solution, designed to cut out all of the effort and save you money."

Yet another example of a demonstrably false statement.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I suppose that if you are selling bulky items say over 3kgs and costing over
£20 The extra costs could be absorbed i.e. If the item you are selling costs
£25 So paying £27 for it doesn’t seem too bad.. HOWEVER at the other end of
the scale. For small collectables etc., Who is going to pay £5.00 for
something they could have got a few weeks ago for £2.00

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Totally agree as a business seller I rely on private sellers for some very good stock. I also started operating a private account when they said free. It was an opportunity to put cheap stuff on with no fees. Of course it couldn't last so Ebay put the fees on the buyer calling it seller protection. Items ended up dearer than listing as a business seller and accounting for the fees in your listing.

Then came along this shipping thing just to bleed a little more out of sellers. This is Amazonian in it's approach but at least Amazon allow you to link your Royal Mail contract at those prices. Whilst I'm sure they take a cut from RM it at least keeps my fulfillment rate up. However this approach by Ebay is our way or the highway.

The problem is with all these sites they are getting greedier than ever and instead of giving the seller the incentive to list more thus making them more commission or buyer protection if you like. They keep looking for ways to tweak the system for more profit knowing full well the level of commission has peaked out. Unless the next steps are increasing it even higher towards 15% or in Amazons case over that. Ebays rent as a business seller is already steep and as a mid range shop I have to do around 4k every 90 days before I'm better off than selling on Amazon with their higher commissions but much lower rent.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

But Dave@Ebay  has supplied any data to give proper context  ( re 20% saving)

You can't say its cheaper if Ebay have pushed more SD users to use Evri as the lower priced quote .  That claim would need to be balanced against how many of those cheaper parcels got lost etc. It would also need to balanced against what proportion of sales were made using SD and how many

The other thing if all Ebay data to justify the benefits of SD are made in that period, that will represent a boom time when Ebay was genuinely free to sell and pre BPF  and cannot be deemed representative for any i.e Ebay and their partners in this shabby exercise

Unless Ebay are prepared to totally transparent and open they have already gone past a point where they have  broken trust to critical level

Yesterday 17/04/2025 was interesting as there were examples coming out of how Ebay actually manage issues such as damage and loss  post SD and in conjunction with BPF and they seem to do that with no involvement of the seller .  This need looking at closely as to me its an admission by Ebay that the traditional seller  buyer relationship has been fundamentally changed , which might be transparent to many  but has massive implications .  For buyers it could actually leave them in  a worse position than before if Ebay makes automated arbitrary decisions.

If Ebay have legally become the seller as I mentioned a couple times , the end buyer is now buying from a business and not a private seller

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I would say the service through SD  for either Evri and RM are customised specifically for Ebay  and  although similar to services offered by both have significant elements that are unique to Ebay .   Compensation is probably an "streamlined"  process and aggregated as part of bulk payment . Sizing for RM has changed to a point where RM have combined the  size criteria for Small and Medium packets into one offering .

For any other partners that sell Evri  and RM services this is a exclusive cartel set-up  and if they can't sell an identical service then where do they stand ??

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Take down your listing before SD takes over and forces you to pay and does not refund you. Mind the Gap😃

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

As a Private seller , I buy a lot from business sellers to support my selling hobby .  Packinging , glue , tools , etc etc  I stop that hobby then my buying activity drops which it has done

It is all intertwined and you can't just put a sledgehammer through part of the business without it impacting other aspects , and without the risk of bringing the whole business crashing down

Ebay's damage limitation seems to be this mainly just the UK at present , but is their golden vision of getting a significant chunk of the courier market they generate worth it .   If Ebay marketplace drops by anything more than 20%  they  simply won't .

What Ebay should have done is set up a parallel sister platform and then moved it across as it grew or buy  out an existing platform that already has this model in place.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So, I have just run my usual morning search of items listed today from private sellers in my chosen sub-category. None of these (approx 200) are showing SD as a delivery option. Maybe Ebay have listened?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

They should have made it mandatory for new sellers to use – if you’ve never sold anything then you get SD when you next (re)list an item.

Optional for everyone else.

Encourage existing/previous sellers to switch once the kinks have been ironed out, but have an opt out for us, for at LEAST a year.

With properly explained T&Cs, and more couriers on board, and allowing existing sellers to test the waters with odd items here and there, SOME would switch.

This all seems too sudden for me, and I really don’t like the fact the T&Cs don’t explain everything. Where in the T&Cs does it mention large letters? (It doesn’t.) Where in the T&Cs does it explain what happens if a postage label isn’t ever used? (It doesn’t.) If it had explained what happens to unused labels would it explain how unused is determined? Not printed and/or not scanned? (Bet it wouldn’t.)

Oh, and my biggest gripe is that I can’t use my stamps. I suppose I could sell internationally and use them for that, but I had been planning to use them on UK stuff.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Nice to read a business seller who realises we are all part of the shopping ecosystem and rely on each other.

A pleasant change from ebay's crude divide and rule which too many seem to fall for.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Like many others I've listed an item but only left it in drafts and have been able to use custom postage and will keep an eye on it but probably won't be forced to change it unless it goes live, an experiment worth trying though 🫰

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

CS 'non-answer' received this morning in response to my formal complaint regarding SD, made yesterday - doesn't directly address any of my queries, particularly regarding consumer rights:

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Assuming it is something you do want to sell, there's nothing to lose by making it 'live' - if your selected postage method gets changed to SD, you can simply end the listing...

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So what's the situation if you don't use Ebays delivery labels??? Will you
get a refund of the cost of the label??
