AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

One of my local drop off shops have heard it on the grapevine that Ebay are not happy with the number of parcels being turned away at Post Offices and are considering sending items elsewhere.

I put a listing on for a customer last night, sold it straightaway, (by ending listing), and it allowed me to do custom delivery!

I wish they'd make their minds up, simple delivery or no simple delivery? Glad you were able to custom still.

I have 3 post offices within 5 miles of me, I go to whichever I am going past when I have a sale. I went to 1 of them THIS MORNING and asked if she had been told about having to accept wrongly weighted/priced items, she didn't know and said that was ridiculous. She did say that oddly she had some parcels that people were putting extra stamps put on!!!

not that any sane person needed confirmation!

Whilst I don't agree with SD, the fault here lies with The Post Office, who haven't updated their managers, or the managers who haven't bothered to read the instructions and or pass them on to staff.

This has just arrived on my overview! Don't think it was there before this morning, although I am beginning to think I don't know anything anymore!

I thought the £3.44 was RM? How are you supposed to know when they don't say the courier anywhere on the listing, it just says tracked delivery.

Same here, tried just now.Initially changes my postage to the nonsense, but the 'custom' choice is still there, and works.
Trying a test yesterday, when I put in my postage of £3.50 prior to listing, when listed it had changed to £4.20.
Two tries later I got it back to £3.50.No clue what that's all about ?
Some of mine were showing £2.94 (?) postage on Monday morning, but they are all back to my numbers now .
Delisted half of mine and the rest are on the 'holiday' thing and cannot be bought. No idea if that makes any difference, doubt ebay do either.
Mess=Total

just a mess ,postage costs all over the place ,just looked at a few of my listing and some are wrong ,letters gone to £2.74 (can not change it to letter) a DVD is now a parcel ,it goes on . but one SD price was £1.55 ? how

The Post Office is a difference company to Royal mail and not sure if they get paid if you do not get the label from them a just dropping off (that's why its cheaper online ) my local PO would turn large drop off away as he did not have the unpaid time to sort it, ?

In my area, the majority of Post Offices are sub-branches located within convenience stores, which in the main employ part-time staff - the majority of whom work the PO counter as well as the normal shop one...
....I would imagine trying to keep all of them up to date with what's going on in situations like this is a nightmare for the owners of those businesses....

Well, even at that it is therefore still at odds with the RM site, which has £150 for the same service.

Good to know but resolved where/how? Is it eBay's fault or does the seller lose more money for not checking details before the item sold??
16-04-2025 12:04 PM
"they had received notification that they had to accept all eBay labelled parcels whether they were right or wrong, and that the problems would be resolved elsewhere."
And you can be as sure as sure can be that the money for those charged at higher rates than they should have been will never be returned to the buyers or sellers who paid it - it will, instead, end up subsidising all those which have been undercharged....
....eg., Buyer A pays too much for his package from Seller B, whilst Seller C (who offered 'Free postage') isn't charged enough for the parcel that he sends to Buyer D - Buyer A doesn't get refunded by eBay, who instead use his money to cover the charge from RM for the underpaid postage from Seller C...

As eBay are the ones that have the account with RM, then if there are excess charges, it will be eBay that get billed, as long as the label was for eBay's recommended weight/size.
If you were selling a 2k parcel size item and changed the recommended postage option to Large Letter up to 1k, then somewhere along the line, I would imagine eBay will be billing you for the difference, and I'm pretty sure I saw mention of a £1 admin charge on the top.

Same at my local PO, it goes against everything they've always been told by Royal Mail for years and years which is to only accept items which have the correct postage on for the weight and size.
It's like avoiding eating yellow snow only for eBay to come along and say actually, go ahead and tuck in, you'll be alright, we know what we're doing.......

But if the size is wrong, as something was yesterday when I checked something that had gone to SD, if you change it will that eventually bite you on the bum!?? You've made it correct but then you lose eBay's back up?
