AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Will you be claiming for a new letterbox? Let us know how you get on.
No I'd rather try and fix it or replace it than deal with trying to get Evri to pay for a new letterbox.
I've placed 4 orders with the place ebay is trying to badly copy, one Evri, one RM and two Yodel collections as they seem to be free just to build up my feedback/reviews there before starting to list stuff.

It's actually nice just sitting back and watching things unravel for a while before I knuckle down and decide what other option to use.

For the last 3 days our large PO in our town has been very quiet ,usually we go in and there is a queue back up the WH SMITHS doors and it is quite a big Smiths, we are usually queuing for 15+ mins but these last days there has been no queue and today only 1 person serving in PO not the usual 2- 3 .

I've had lots of discounted offers too just because I've done some browsing. I've not been tempted yet because of BPF.

I wonder if the school holidays might influence the volumes as mums and dads might take a break from selling to go on holiday etc. I drove for many hours today and there was very little traffic on the roads.

It makes one wonder just how busy they were because of sellers from this platform.

"So not 8m lost packages, but 8m late parcels - still a really bad service."
I am only a small time private seller and so thought last year selling 100 items I was really busy - even HMRC seem to think 30 may be a badge of a trader.
So if I send out, like last year, 100 parcels with Evri and I get one delivered a day late (or damaged) you interpret that as "still a really bad service"
10-04-2025 7:39 PM
Can't really comment on lateness but out of my 600+ parcels in 18-24 months, I've only had one loss (thrown in a random doorway in a block of flats), and one breakage (a plaster diorama). So a 0.33% failure rate.
Fwiw the rebranded Evri seem better than Hermes.

The more comments I read the more I'm inclined to join the exodus and not give it a chance. Strength in numbers and all that. All listings ended citing "Listing contained an error" (The postage!). Given recent changes it's not like eBay is a hotbed of selling activity. With my current listings that would be £10k active listing value that would be £400 minimum(?) out of eBay pocket. Nothing in the scheme of things but if we all follow suit who knows.

GREEDYbay is the name of my shortcut to the site.
Not satisfied with reinstating their fees (all they did there was shift from WHOM they received the fees - seller to customer), GREEDYbay now wants a slice of postage. Why should a seller keep prices down by using their own-sourced CHEAPER tracked postage via courier comparison sites when GREEDYbay can charge the sellers MORE for the same service AND rake in fees!
Oh and of course create MORE work because sellers now have to work out what the weights and dimensions are and that's BEFORE a customer wants to combine postage...
If GREEDYbay wants to drive folk away to other platforms e.g. ebuygum etc, so be it!

I don't blame you for wanting to give things a try. The only reasons why I removed my listings is that I used to buy a lot and sell a fair bit. BPF ruined my sales because I'm a private seller who only sold items from my collection. Plus I don't agree with BPF. Seller fees were better. I don't want to use SD because after trial and error RM 48hr tracked was great for me. So now I'm just watching to see what happens.

My thoughts are the same. I didn't mind seller fees but I like dealing with my choice of courier direct and I don't like SD being forced on me.

THIS THREAD DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. THAT IS A ERROR POST.

Our town is usually busy all year round and busier in school holidays as we are a holiday destination with a lot of static caravan parks and we see more children with their parents in the PO during holidays ,we usually see the same people with parcels each day but they have vanished ,and the woman behind the PO counter was in a really good mood which is not her ,so she was probably glad not to be busy .

I’ve sold £475 worth of stuff in the last three months and spent more than that on ebay. Small fry, as you say - but if enough of us show them SD is not acceptable, who knows? Other platforms have backtracked on BPF and managed postage so its not impossible that we could at least get it made optional again.
I’ve just made my last withdrawal. Now I’ll watch and wait.

There is a solution but ebay haven't done it yet :-0)

Lol. I've now got to politely ask the mods to remove that post.

Sellers are desperate. Unless it's a recently listed item (within 7-14 days), I automatically offer anyone who crops up on 'send offer to buyers' 5% off. If it's something I'm clueless/overly optimistic about they get 10-15%. Seldom results in a conversation.
Most of the time it's probably other sellers guaging value.
