"...and the collection options are less flexible than royal mail." Do you know you can set Royal Mail as your only Simple Delivery option?
Also you will have seen a lot of changes on eBay in the 25-years you've had an account, so you know you just have to roll with them!

Yes, some of us are finding Simple Delivery to be a very poor substitute for Custom Postage. Not being able to choose the service that is most suitable for the item, or convenient for the seller - and no longer being allowed to decide what price you want to charge for p&p, are probably the worst elements of SD.
There are lots of posts about Simple Delivery on the forum - so you will see that others are having similar difficulties!

I generally used Royal Mail before and still do. The only difference is that I now do everything on the e-Bay web-site and DON'T have to pay 30p for collections and often pay less than RM would charge as Simple Delivery prices are a slightly less and e-Bay's Recommended size/weight tends to be lower than the actual one.
If you only want to use RM switch Evri off here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf.
As with any change there are Winners and Loosers. If you tend to sell things Small Parcel-size and above you win; if you mostly sell Large Letter-sized things and below it's not so good, though with some things like that you can still do it the old way.

Yes i hate simple delivery its awful, now i have to print all labels at work, royal mail used to bring them to the door, to book collections individually shown have to pay 30p but with ten items sold i have to do this ten times, as eBay isn’t connected toy royal mail login, ive made a few size/ weight mistakes, so now postage has to be paid twice, i really hate everything about the really painful stupid simple postage

Nothing listed my side as I decided to wait until the problems associated with it have been resolved. Last sale was 30 July. Switched over to Not-So-Simple-Delivery then had no sale for 14 days. Think the site was reading my moans on here so 'dropped the shutters' on my listings!
But after the price increase on 1 Sept I will dip my toes into 'trying' to sell on this platform.
I suppose I will just have to get used to this draconian system that has removed a seller's choice. There may be some good points - but am sure it's going to cost more in the long term when this site realises not all buyers are trustworthy.
I've had to get used to the majority of Mercs and BMWs having faulty or non existent indicators so I guess SD will just be another pain in the proverbial in life!

Wow seeing your last sentence we really do have the same daily problems , no indicators and owns all the road 🤣

You WERE correct when Simple Delivery started. Now you can book the collection when you get the label without paying 30p and the postman brings the label.
Just to note, you still have to open the label to complete the process even though you don't need to do anything with it. At that point you should get a confirmation e-mail from RM.

They've got indicators. The problem is the faulty organic component.

Well i can give it a try, a did a test a month ago, and it didn’t work, i support we just had to guess when they system is up and running properly, the old way wS so simple Sell- Pack-Weight-Ship

It worked for me last Friday — and plenty of times prior to that — and is even simpler than Sell-Pack-Weigh-Ship as there's no weighing (or measuring) to do.

I've been selling on here for over 20 years. Now Simple Delivery has been introduced its just not worth my while. Most of the items I sell are under 500g which I post 2nd class large letter. It costs me around £1.80. The Simple Delivery prices are ridiculous. I'm overpaying for every label. I'm refusing to use them and then unable to mark as despatched. I'm having to message the buyer to say it has been posted. Is there an easy way around this? Most of the things I sell are less than £10.

I was stuck in conversation with Chatbot and finally got through to what seemed like a human agent... Simple Delivery "feature" applied to nearly 400 items. I had an opportunity to hand deliver a reasonably large item ( a painting ) to someone who was literally on my car journey to work... I didn't know about Simple Delivery and it seems my seller had already had to pay for what was already an incorrectly priced delivery.
There seems to be no way to easily remediate this on a personal seller account, it was suggested to convert my account to a business account, but I am genuinely not a business seller... most of the stuff I am selling belonged to my late father who was a bit of a hoarder, and my desire is to sell this cheaply to people who want it, not really making a lot of profit... better than sending to landfill hopefully.
Simple delivery seems to remove any flexibility, and also charges people more money than they need to pay to deliver items - incurring excessive charge on either the seller or buyer. It's a completely diabolical policy, ill thought out and I will no longer be wasting my breath selling with eBay any more... absolute disgrace eBay, I feel this will actually damage your business in the UK.

When I've booked Royal Mail collections they've usually been next day, though with the option for leaving it longer. The only time it hasn't been was when somebody paid late at night and then it was two days later whereas on the RM site I could have booked it up to midnight for the next day. That was a few weeks ago and it could have changed since then; I've since booked one at quarter to ten for the next day.

you can set RM but e bay can change that at their whim! As for 'you know you just have to roll with them!', you should have added 'or leave' like many of us have done. (much as i did not want to but enough is enough)

Please explain how to book collections without paying 30p and a label brought by royal mail? Currently i go from the ebay email with the prepaid label on, click arrange collection, this takes me to a royal mail page, i put the collection address email etc and have to pay 30p. This week i cannot say if a label is being brought by RM as my wife isn’t home, but I printed them at work anyway as i have zero trust
