NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ebay are suggesting if we don't have a printer or smartphone ,then we can take our computer to parcel shop !!!!Really what walking with parcels and a computer ,what a joke ,then like my son you get to evri parcel shop and there is no paper available to print out . So have to walk all the way home again .We have a lot of druggies in our town and there is a bale hostel in the town too ,I don't think for minute I will be walking around with a computer .

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

No one suggested that

but they may well have been for lack of alternatives

the best alternative being eBay sorting this out with Royal Mail

but Kat off community team did say take a photo on your camera (digital) so you can show the qr code to the post office clerk , bless

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Exactly! It would have been the easiest thing in the world to pre-warn, stamps will no longer be valid for use on Ebay.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I think you can still use them for small  items under 100g and envelope or Jiffy bag untracked  and if price is under a tenner

but nothing seems to be  concrete in the land of eBay yet regarding postage

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Will Ebay be supplying a free Digital camera for the people who only have
the old NOKIA style ones??
I don't know why they just say "In 3months we are doing away with Private
Sellers" Instead of 'turning the screw' bit by bit in the hope that they
will leave of their own accord.. As I said on a previous post it's akin to
CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

They’re not trying  t o get rid of private sellers imo it smacks of desperation

theyre straightjacking them in the hope they will remain because they have no choice but to accept  ebays choice ie the best choice …. the save 20 %on postage lie  and  other rubbish

but they do! Have a  choice

it’s called bye bye

I think they were spooked by vinted and have copied their system but very badly and in a very restricted way and in a rush

so vinted is stilll better and will probably thrive more because of this and eBay is worse off

can’t get the staff these days

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

There is a massive assumption that the your local post office will want to print you a label given how they have been shafted by this deal .

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

yes ,We don't want to be forking out for printers or smart phones ,digital camerasETC   just to be in line with SD .You would think that ebay would have not tried to be like vinted and use SD ,as their sales history isn't great yet ,but Ebay have shot themselves in the foot with this one "DON'T BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU "

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Well I though I would wait to see if there was any light shone on this mess in today’s weekly chat, and despite most queries being over the confusion that SD seems to be spreading I can't say I am any the wiser.

As another person who has neither printer or smartphone selling will be removed as an option I can take part in from the 15th.

So for what its worth I submitted a complaint to the Competition and Markets Authority on the grounds that eBay are bringing in restrictive market practices by narrowing competition down to two providers and through not even allowing all the options these providers, well RM, offer in the free market such as the full range of costs by parcel weight and the option to have a postage label brought to the sender and pointed out this may have discriminatory implications on age and/or disability grounds.

Not holding my breath but what else can you do when you are forced out by the marketplace owner's rent-seeking behaviour!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

An important thing is to give them a real chance, it's not ebay and as you say, "It's such a small site so doesn't get the visits that ebay does".  Nothing will change if you give up after a month and go back to ebay.  No-one will even notice that you ever left, they'll just think you took a break for this latest dust cloud to settle.

I've been there for years, built up my listing numbers and now sell reasonably regularly.  For the last five years sales there have been better than on ebay..  But breaking buyers habit of looking only on ebay for what they want is difficult, but can be done.  I think about 50% of my buyers come via google shopping and are new to the site.  Most of the rest are repeat buyers, something I rarely had on ebay simply because it is so much bigger and the choice greater.

They'll need a while to realise that what they're looking for is harder to find on ebay, go looking elsewhere and find it's cheaper.  Always remember that over there the search is still Key-Word based, no PL bias.  If you've got the key words in your title and someone comes looking, they WILL be shown your item if it's on there.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I Was hoping to get involved in the weekly chat but missed it , and looks pointless anyway ,we are making lots of noise ,but they are not listening   ,

I posted 8 items with RM, large letters/small parcels ,(one 24 ,one 3kg) no 2kg parcels  , and RM cost £27.69 ,

SD cost would be £32.73 without RM 24 ? if you offer free post and SD hits your listings its a big lost and a hit to buyer if they are paying owwch (doing boot sales this weekend )

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

The statement that sellers must add p&p into item price is totally wrong,  p&p is a valid business expenditure and tax deductible.  Adding into item price it becomes taxable. And also adds to item value and inflates the BPF.

I refuse to pay tax on something that costs me. Isn't this the same sort of statement that got ebay a wrap across the knuckles when they advised sellers to add the postage price onto the item when they where promoting free postage a few years ago.

As a private seller I want to sell my accumulated odds and ends for a fairprice to a happy customer, not engage in some sort of 3d chess.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes over the years ebay have completely ruined it for sellers and buyers. Amazon has a massive different set of rules and a lot of things are extremely over priced on Amazon.

I have read lots of comments about ebay over the last year, all point to the same.  I own an IT company and talking this morning.  How hard can It really be to create a simple selling site.  Cut back on all the red tape and greed.   The site would be easy to build,  maybe just a monthly membership for sellers.

Attracting the buyers would be the only hard part,  but if sellers helped push their listing on facebook etc and with a few facebook adds the buyers could be attracted.

'....p&p is a valid business expenditure and tax deductible.  Adding into item price it becomes taxable.'

'....As a private seller I want to sell my accumulated odds and ends .....'

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are contradicting yourself here :  are you a business seller, or a private seller?

If you're a private seller the first statement is inapplicable.

If your're a business seller the 'new rules' won't apply to you!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

As they start mandatory "S...d delivery" on the 15th, I'm leaving ebay, it's just too greedy and complicated. They are not the only one good selling platform on the market anymore, so bye ebay.
