AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I have told my family i do not need any more Amazon boxes!

That's disgusting from ebay.
It's their system that isn't working, the least they should do is step, take ownership of it and make things right.
08-04-2025 5:09 PM
better to just cancel order and tell buyer why
08-04-2025 5:10 PM
just think of all those thousands out there that still do not have a clue what is about to happen!

How many times will people come across this problem go to an Evri drop off shop and they have no labels ,say you have 6 parcels to sell ,all medium and had to walk to drop off shop with a plan to do shopping afterwards ,you then can't post your parcels so you have either got to return home again or take parcels around with you ,what a nuisance .And if you have driven to drop parcels off what a waste of fuel because you have got to either drive to another drop off shop or return home and take parcels to shop another day .At least we know that the post office would always have labels .
08-04-2025 5:14 PM
I feel exactly the same, I have just been deleting all of my saved drafts and have no intention of listing anything again unless eBay revert to the system that, like you, I have been using and have been happy with for years.

To true. I couldn't believe he was told to buy another label and hope. I hope he actually rang CS. I'd be fuming.

An update from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), its not the response I was hoping for.
I am aware that others have reported ebay to the CMA and wondered if they had received the same response.
I would urge as many private sellers as possible to report ebay to the CMA
Thank you for your recent correspondence about ebay UK.
We value people contacting us with information. This helps us to tackle anti-competitive behaviour and protect people and businesses from being disadvantaged by unfair practices.
Please be aware that the CMA has no powers to take action or open a case on behalf of an individual customer or business (for example; to pursue compensation, refunds, or to intervene or adjudicate in disputes).
What happens now?
Our Intelligence Team will now analyse your enquiry using our published prioritisation principles. We prioritise the cases that are most likely to make a real difference for people and the UK economy based on our available resources and the likelihood of a successful outcome.
Can I get an update on my enquiry?
We are unable to give you an update on your enquiry. We find all enquiries useful to inform our current and future work. However, we offer no guarantee as to where or how your enquiry may be used.
Will the CMA investigate my enquiry?
We review all the enquiries that we receive. This helps us to understand:
Even if we don’t immediately investigate your enquiry, it may lead to us taking further action in the future.
Do I need to do anything else?
You do not need to do anything. If we need further information, we will contact you.

But not a very good way to do business ,having sales on Ebay is a near non existence these days so to then have to cancel an order is terrible .

Maybe they can't act on a individuals contact but I wouldn't give up completely because depending on amounts of complaints their intelligence team might look into things in more depth.

I wonder if eBay will notice the amount of listings on their site plummet as sellers find out about this unannounced and unwanted change. First time I knew about this was when I came to post the item. I'd pre-selected Royal Mail large letter with the intent of posting it. Yet eBay forced me to use Evri tracked.
Even when we had to pay the fees, we knew where we stood rather than this lottery. I bought and sold £3 or less football programmes, but now there will be no place online to do so that I know of.
I really hope eBay wake up and realise the huge *bleep* up they have made but I doubt very much that they care.

I take it you do not have cats. You can never have too many boxes as far as cats are concerned.

I had my first experience of standing behind someone trying to post multiple parcels using simple delivery QR codes. It didn't go well. There was a lot of confusion and took an age to sort out. I thought my car park ticket would run out.

It'll be like a comedy sketch show after the 15th. With people being told where to go to post their items. Chaos could rule supreme.
08-04-2025 6:15 PM
They made you use Evri even though you had Royal Mail selected. Had you turned off the Evri option?
If they can override the delivery options someone has picked then there's no point in having them!

They will have all the metrics they need and they will not be looking good .
They will have measured a upsurge in activity after giving all private sellers free selling last autumn but since the introduction of Buyer protection fees thing will start to drop . I think sellers didn't really pick up the impact in the way they have reacted to simple delivery , but I had stopped selling just before that but I also don't think they informed sellers in the same way. Sales would started to drop as low starting price auctions I.E the traditional 0.99p is not advertised to buyers as £1.74 so as result even if sellers didn't notice it sales will drop significantly as a result .
To me Simple delivery has caused total outrage with long term sellers and my reaction was the to stop selling immediately if there wasn't a permanent choice to opt out . I was about to resume selling at that point . For me Ebay had already made selling as simple as possible and this is 100 steps backwards probably designed for new sellers in mind .
I think it has just been a week but the deeper you get in into this the totally ludicrous Ebays current strategy have been with their recent changes which all revolve around there impossible to achieve free to sell strategy . Not only are alienating there private sellers they are destroying their traditional core business in the process. The paradox is it is now more expensive to sell then it was when Ebay charged seller fees , there dishonestly named buyer protection fees do nothing give the buyer any extra protection but a shoddy replacement for seller fees . And if you look at the different the seller receives and what the buyer bids and pays they are just renamed selling fees . Its a barley legal scam .
Because they are visible to the buyer when the listing is creating they will only lower the eventual seller amount , which means not only is the average buyer fee going to around 10% the impact is greater is has also reduced the seller price . This breaks a basic rule of any auction .
For any new sellers their campaign may have attracted the results are going to be that good
I did just look at becoming a business seller and I think they may have also been meddling there and although some pages recommends you should be become a business seller if your selling habits you can only do this now if you are a proper business
This is an absolute nightmare of Ebays own making , and would suspect many people in may be in a state of total despair with their current leadership
If Ebay are going stay in this market they have absolutely no choice but to revert most of these changes , so as peeved everyone is the best action let Ebay sort out their mess and keep up the noise .

I got the same email but it's fine and that's all I was expecting as I already knew their policy is not to keep us updated. We've done our job of reporting something that doesn't look right for them to consider.
What surprised me was the Enquiry reference number when I logged it which suggests they have had a very low number of enquiries this year or maybe they have just implemented a new system for tracking them as mine was the year then a lot of zeros then a single digit number on the end in the format CMAE250000x. If true then even the number of forum posts I have seen suggests we might already be the majority of the public reports made to the CMA this year in which case there's a fair chance it will get considered.

Since an awful lot of those are from you, and a significant amount of the others are off topic, and from a relatively small cohort of posters, don't get your hopes up.

Why not have a look at that other place that has been mentioned here before? Not the one Ebay are trying to copy; the one that seems to be what Ebay used to be like. They don't like us mentioning competition here.
