AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

There was, and I declined the (not guaranteed) chance of having a 30 minute video conference.
They didn't want to know before implementing SD and I'm sure they'll have got the gist from my responses that I'm not a fan of SD and the other changes they've made.

I really don't blame him. This has been so rushed through and not planned properly. And yet again it's the private sellers and buyers that are the ones to suffer.

Had 650 listings on eBay, now have just 8 - all my items are of low value and I'd be making a loss selling them

What type of business enforces their hair brained idea on their users without any discussions or trying to get their views until after they've done it. Such a shambles.

My son has just been to send his first parcel from simple delivery with Evri at a Tesco express but they haven't got labels for the postage labels so that was no good ,he only was given evri as the choice of postage not royal mail .The guy in the shop said they have been waiting for labels but non have arrived ,he said try the shop in bow street they might be able to help ,but bow street is several miles away from him and my son can't drive so he hasn't been able to post his parcel . What a load of bo...cks it really is simple delivery my back side. My son is really cross .

I removed my last 4 at the weekend just gone and I'll either keep them until I find somewhere else or I'd give them to a local charity shop.

Tried to cancel an existing order but eBay want to charge me £2.94 to do so - no way of getting a refund for the label that I can see.
Total scam, I never signed up or agreed to this. Only knew about it when I tried to post something.
Thieving, scamming deceitful scum eBay.

My son has been onto chat and the member of staff wasn't really helpful but said puchase another label at a cost to yourself and take the parcel the post office and then try and get the money back from the buyer !!!!!!!!!

They should have and could have messaged sellers instead of saying we are doing this and because it's part of another policy change it's been a case of like it or lump it.

They don't have a clue what's going on. And being told to buy another label out of his pocket and hope a buyer will pay it back is absolutely disgusting.

Indeed.
With SD i think it will be rolled out to business sellers eventually (with the very large sellers exempt as they have very favourable deals with their carriers already) and that private sellers are being used as a testing ground.
The business board is full of small sellers saying how bad sales are compared to the high fees they pay (shop fees, listing fees, promoting fees and then selling fees). Fees on postage would be a disaster.
When will ebay realise that they can only milk so much money from sellers and purchasers?

So true. I'd also heard that there were a lot of unhappy smaller business sellers saying their sales were down. So that's private sellers suffering, buyers not buying, and smaller business sellers suffering. They are running out of options.

Suggest he actually phones CS and say he wants a manager.

If ebay had left things as they were there wouldn't have been this hassle ,just walk into a post office and weigh parcel the staff take the parcel from you and they stick label on job done .Imagine if my sons problem had been met by an elderly person ,it could be very stressful for them and muddling .
08-04-2025 4:35 PM
The Post office wouldn't not have labels .

You are so right. The scary thing is this doesn't officially start until the 15th. There's a week to go yet and then the floodgates may well and truly open.

It really sounds like a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

If ebay did the above then the regulatory authorities would possibly have something to say. This would be an anti competitive move to the disadvantage of small businesses.

Great post. I've been looking over there too. Small now but I'd expect a few more vendors to join in this period. I see there's a thread keeping tabs of how many UK stores there are.
Perhaps a little bit of advertising wouldn't go amiss though?
