AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Hahahahaha. Metaphors need love to, they are great 🤣😁

It has been like leaving a very *bleep* job, walking out of the door and sticking 2 fingers up or even one 🤣

I think we have many options. Just need to clear my head, get some space for a while and then pursue other avenues

Just one last word from me before I move on to pastures new!!
when I was a private seller like most of us, I used to get 200 listings with 80% off the final value fee once/ twice a month, which I used to reduce my prices to be more competitive. Now with the buyer protection racket obay make maximum profit out of the deals just now from people’s customers.
I bet buyers don’t get sent 80% off buyer protection fees for being good customers every so often and now fleecing our customers even more from making profit from postage, the one thing we weren’t aloud to do and even encouraged to offer free postage on our listings!
I went over to business seller when this all started but it just isn’t working for me as it is very expensive.
sorry if this has been covered before here and sorry about lack of grammar and punctuation, I’m just going down hill like ebay.

I am going to be a lurker as well, love a bit of gossip 🤣

Didn’t think of that! Maybe there is hope that they are heading for a fall from different angles!

I was happy to pay fees, knew where I was, no ‘hidden’ surprises for buyers, postage a doddle really. It wasn’t broke, you can guarantee they would fix it though

Maybe some useful advice, don’t close your account. Mine is still open, no listings but I want to keep on here, it is giving me a laugh for one thing. I have put a remote message on for on my account. I have had many fab buyers, had some great sellers too, at some point ebay might just wake up, not holding out any hope but it springs eternal! Anyway keep your account open, no hassle if at some point you way to reconvene.
Just to add on a different vein, have tried to reply to a few let’s say ‘controversial’ posts, clearly been removed, running scared are they!

now that is stretching the conspiracy theory, they always put their prices up in April!

I am giving myself a couple of weeks break from online selling before i start really looking into the alternatives, think i have an idea what i will do but just welcoming the chance to do nothing at the moment. Last of my items will be delisted today.

it is amazing how your life can get so centered around online selling though! I started off with a few items and when they were getting low i remarked about it to some of my family and suddenly i was inundated with stuff! I do it all for them without any charge as well! Actually costs me because i do not even take anything for packing materials etc. Not to mention time, thing is though that i enjoyed doing it (and they do not).

I think one of my strangest sales (and heaven only knows why i even put them on) were loads of photos of planes that my departed brother had taken over his lifetime here and in NZ. He smoked as well so they were not in the best condition but i put them on and they sold!! I actually sold a lot of his stuff on here (and the car boot) that i would normally have binned (my sister was actually going to bin some of the stuff until i said i would try to sell on here). Shame it ends (even temporarily - hoping that eventually they will see the light but not banking on it)

anyone with any sense would read it for what it was but in this wokey times there will always be those who take offence without thinking about the context. Nice apology though.

It is and I used to sell as well for others, including some elderly people who just couldn’t get their heads round technology. Some rude person told me once that I must be a business seller as I sold so much and I must have a warehouse somewhere. I tell you what if I had a warehouse I would never have sold on eBay 😂. I too never took commission for selling anything for anyone but I did ask them, if they could perhaps donate a small amount, however small to a local charity instead.
Will I miss it, slight possibility for a very short period of time but life is too short to be giving yourself undue stress and anxiety, time to move on to pastures new and let’s hope they are green and lush 😁

exactly, a well deserved vacation from all that photographing, listing, packing and posting! Not to mention as i do mostly family clothes, washing and ironing! I know they will have been done but i still have to do them myself... OCD springs to mind...

A few months down the line, Panorama will probably do a programme entitled "eBay, where did it all go wrong?"
07-04-2025 9:40 AM
Now that would be awesome.
07-04-2025 9:40 AM
Bahahahahahaha, oh I do hope so, I will replay it time and again!

I heard that things weren't great at the moment for some business sellers. They have not used any sense or thought of what the repercussions would really end up being for many different types of users. How on earth do people get away with no common sense.

Lol. I've now got to get used to having time to think about what to do next. Having had the reality check I've now got to get used to it.
