AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Lol,yes,maybe they should include telling people how 'simple ' it is to borrow to pay them.....

I don't know,but would guess that this is only being done in the UK,as British people have an annoying tendency not to kick off.Am delighted to see that,in this case, they are.

Maybe that's attributing ebay management a grain of intelligence,which they appear not to have.

Someone needs to acquaint them with the reality that you can only fool some of the people,some of the time.

So true. Plus I'm sure they believe that all of us in the UK will just keep quiet and accept these ridiculous enforcements. I hope and think this time they'll realise that if you push anything far enough into a corner there will be a defensive response.

It would be good to see a comment from someone at eBay UK (fleecebay). I guarantee they are reading this thread, but they won’t have the bottle to comment. What a shameful company they have become.  Good luck towards a 1000 posts on this thread. Should do that by tomorrow.

Thank you so much. I don't think that total is achievable for me but some of the posts on here really have been terrific and much appreciated. I never expected the thread to have taken off like it has to be honest. I do know it's being moderated because I saw a first amended post earlier. Plus you are right about the lack of fleecebay posts. Maybe it's because so many of the posts on here are hard to make a argument against.

That total could be acheivable. Some of the post started after BPF ran for a month, in fact some only dropped off once these new ones about SD started.

I see a lot of people on this thread saying that they are leaving eBay and moving elsewhere.  I am certainly thinking of doing the same but I'm not sure about the alternative platforms.  Perhaps someone can advise.

One of the main benefits of eBay for me is international sales.  Many of my listings are for extremely rare obsolete electronic components and I sell about 30% of these to overseas buyers.  For me, eBay makes this extremely convenient because:

1. They list in very many countries but I can limit where I am prepared to sell to (basically EU, North America and some far east countries - yes, I have sold to Japan, Taiwan and Singapore over the years).
2. No fuss with currency exchange.  Buyer pays in local currency and I get my money in GBP.
3. Global Shipping Programme avoids any fuss with Customs.

So, are there eBay alternatives which can handle my sort of niche items AND allow easy international sales?

Note for business sellers:  I sell old components which I purchased or was given back when I was a student 40 years ago.  I am therefore a genuine private seller disposing of unwanted possessions.

We can only hope that someone from Ebay is looking at all the comments.  I have spoken on the phone and done a live chat, but, of course, I just get the standard replies.  However, if enough of us keep complaining, somebody might eventually get the message.  As far as I am concerned, it is the end for me of buying and selling on Ebay.  I will only return when I am able to decide how to post my items, and I don't see that happening in the near future.  I agree with almost everything I have seen posted on this thread, particularly how this may affect Post Office staff and those with limited mobility.  When my final listings finish on Sunday, that will be it.

Loads more to sell but on 6th April will see if eBay wake up as they are destroying so many elements of what was a good platform.
