I understood that on items under £10 you can opt out. Have I got this wrong.

Its items under £10 that weigh 100g or less and fit in an envelope.

So do I assume that they no longer recognize that royal mail do a small parcel rate. It looks like everything is now going to be charged at medium parcel size. This puts all my postage cost up in price.
25 years on ebay but this will be goodbye. At my age I don't want the agro. My lego collection that I have built up over the years will stay where it is, on my shelves.

I totally agree l have been selling unwanted items on eBay for over 20 years. As l am housebound l can't take items to drop off points, l have always used royal mail who collect items from my home. EBay seem determined to ruin the sales for private sellers, l shall not be selling anything in the future.

Ebay states 'The option to opt out will only be available for items under £10 and weighing 100g or under'.
Where does it state it has to fit in an envelope? I often sell lego parts that are under £10 and weigh less than 100g but are too bulky for large letter rate so go small parcel rate. It doesn't state if I can opt out or not with them, or is it mentioned elsewhere on the simple delivery details?

Good point sadly everything is as clear as mud. With the exception of postcards most things like lego and jewellery etc need a large letter and i usually send 2nd £1.55. These items are under 100g but too bulky for letter. We will have to wait and see i am listing nothing here until this is all finally sorted which might take all year as they are planning more exciting new ideas mainly with AI probably

That’s what I’ve decided to do. Make an effort to use more of what I have left then dispose/donate, and be very choosy about what comes in.
Its probably a good thing, I admit I was buying too much stuff with the unconcious thought that I could just sell it on when the novelty wore off.

Same here. Most of my electronic components only weigh a couple of grams and sell for less and £10 but have an annoying tendency to be about 6mm thick and therefore have to go in a "Large Envelope".

I have just run a test with "Simple" delivery. I offer free postage and comics are over 100g so will be in the mix. 1 comic book will cost £2.74 to ship now which on some of the £3 inc shipping I offer doesn't leave much. The buyer pays £3.84 due to the buyer premium. Now hopefully most of my buyers buy a couple of comics and I make a bit more than 26p on them.
The problem arises when I add more than 1 comic to the cart. I can ship 15 comics or so for the same £2.70 small parcel price. £3.50 first class. As I add an extra comic to the cart the postage price went up to £4. It seems to peak out at 5 comics which unironically cap out at £6.66 postage. That's an outrageous price for second class post.
My only other option would be to lower my price to say £1.50 and make the payer pay the postage. Who in their right mind would buy 5 comics for £7.50 and pay £6.66 postage plus £3.75 buyers premium.
It's madness for sure.

I've asked this question before but didnt get a reply ..What is the situation if you buy a postage label for the lower large Letter rate Is it £2.74??Then discover the item when packed weighs just over the 750gm limit. putting the postage cost into the small parcel bracket costing £3.75 ?Can you make up the difference by using postage stamps??

We are still wondering if an article listed by the seller at £9.99 comes under the opt out system allowing us to mail the item as we please. The buyer protection add on of £1.15 brings eBay’s listing to £11.14. That would then come under the ‘simple delivery’ no choice system. Which one will ebay take into account?
