I think i may be being hacked. Postage costs altering on listing i haven't changed.

It's like someone is messing with my account, I put just two listing as special delivery (to cover higher cost) & other listing keep changing, I just sold an item listed as 48 only to find it's marked as special & asking me to pay £12. ..& I just looked at another item & that's also now changed to special.

I'v spent the last day just trying to revise listenings & they just keep changing.  Driving me up the wall tbh.

Hi, @zebra_park  the only way I could replicate this is by using business policies for postage - do you do this? Are you changing the business policy and letting it change other listings on the same policy?

If it was a glitch I would have thought the boards would be full of it.

This is insane, I just changed the item (135mm olympus lens) back from SD (god knows how it changed) to RM 48 -... & the 50mm Ultron (that's meant to be special delivery) has now changed back to 48 @3.50 - I didn't change it to 48 - it just did it itself.

eBay are changing eligible listings over to Simple Delivery postage if it's not on there already.    SD covers sellers for loss or damage in transit for up to £750.

? what?

They are altering business seller listings ?

& i'm not selling £750 items i'm selling ones (mostly) that are covered by RM 48 - I changed ones over £100 to SD, not any others & I don't want them changed.

They owe me money. ..How are they going in & changing listing I already made ? This is outrageous.

Re: I think i may be being hacked. Postage costs altering on listing i haven't changed.

By 'SD' I meant special delivery, next day. & now a low cost item has just changed itself to special delivery - I bet if I change it back the other listing will go to back to 48 - that's meant to be & is currently special delivery. < This is what seems to be happing, i'm revising listings & other listings are changing at the same time.

Re: I think i may be being hacked. Postage costs altering on listing i haven't changed.

Yep, the Ultron 50mm listing has now gone back to 48 @ £3.50  after revising the 135mm listing, *not* the 50mm listing.

So I can sell one with no insurance or the other with exorbitant posting cost - It makes me think this place is corrupt & people just playing games with peoples heads.

How can it be instantly changing a listing i'm *not* revising?

I have revised this several times now to make it special delivery. & it's now *put itself* back to 48 the moment I revised the 135mm. Screenshot 2025-10-05 at 14.07.44.png

@zebra_park

Hi, all your listings show as £3.50 or free. You don't have to use the postage it suggests do you?

Yes, They are now even though i'v repeatedly put the Ultron 50mm at £12.50 .

I will now revise it again & watch what happens to the 135mm listing.

Re: I think i may be being hacked. Postage costs altering on listing i haven't changed.

@zebra_park When did you first start to have issues with the postage amounts being changed?

Although you should be unaffected by Simple Delivery which, as I'm sure you know, applies to Private sellers only, I can't help thinking that you may be suffering the unintended consequences of an eBay update to Simple Delivery code. Most eBay code releases occur on a Friday, so if you have been driven up the wall in the past two days that may explain it.

As for what you can do I'm sorry to say I think your options are limited. I'd probably not try and change any current live listings for starters, in case the postage costs also start going haywire. I'm inclined to suggest you remove one of the two listings you've mentioned in previous posts - provided the postage cost on the one you leave as live is showing correctly - and then perhaps try logging off eBay, logging back in and listing the second item whilst (obviously) keeping an eye on the postage cost.

Or perhaps consider listing with Free postage but add the cost on to the BIN price?

Failing all the above I'm afraid it's likely to just be a 'wait and see' situation; eBay may correct any duff code sooner or later but as they never 'fess up or release a list of faults which have been fixed you'll only find out when it stops affecting your listings.

Hope this helps.

Re: I think i may be being hacked. Postage costs altering on listing i haven't changed.

Thanks, Yes it's been last couple of days. & I was thinking ending/re-listing one may sort it for now. & hadn't thought of logging off between, i'll give it a go, just have to suck up listing fees I guess - thankfully the one buyer said positing 48 was ok, - but it's seriously making me think try other platforms also atm, fees Ebey are charging are just ridiculous. Especially with stuff like this ..

- I noted a few of days ago all my listings were marked with some kind of listing/postal alert. But went away.

Thanks again. .

I ended the 135mm, re-listed it with 48 & the other listing changed to 48 as soon as I did.

I just thought i'd be clever & change the 135 to free posting & add cost to listing- & the Ultron has now changed to free also. 😡

Re: I think i may be being hacked. Postage costs altering on listing i haven't changed.

@zebra_park  This all seems very odd, and as @suelel1968  writes if this is due to a glitch there would be numerous other reports about it by now.

Assuming that none of the postage costs on your other listings are changing when you alter either the 135 or the Ultron listings it points to there being some sort of link between the two listings. What this could possibly be I have no idea, but if there's nothing in your business policy (as suele1968 suggests) the only other suggestion I have is that you could try listing both lenses completely separately - it may be that any temporary cache isn't clearing correctly when listing two items in the same session.

This really is intriguing. Keep us updated, please.
