OK so listing some items tonight
good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates
bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?
This is from ebay itself: You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.
I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

After being locked into SD a couple of days ago I decided to give it a go and 'sell similar' all my unsold items and lo and behold the custom shipping is back again!

I should add I've made a sale, a large letter under 100g, they send you a QR code and the option to print a label. There was no option at checkout to put in the size/weight details, so you automatically have to pay for a 1kg parcel, nearly double the price. Waste of time making the sale. It's a slow drive to get individuals onto business accounts where the option to toggle between Simple Delivery and proper delivery is still allowed. Ebay can screw themselves. They're already front-loading all the listing prices, skimming off everyone for no effort at all. It's going down the toilet.

Business sellers don’t toggle between simple and normal postage I don’t think as it doesn’t apply to them
you need to cancel and relist for the buyer with custom postage and chose padded envelope (because the letter option is broken at the moment) but edit the postage cost to whatever you want
