Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really? 

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

If anyone has had the eBay survey about delivery  (email only, not messages), do fill it in. It's asking why you chose Custom over SD, and there are lots of reasons to tick, plus some spaces to add other thoughts on SD.

Yes, it may not make any difference, but if you don't fill it in, it DEFINITELY won't make a difference.

I cannot opt out of simple delivery on the ebay app, it will not let you select custom  - unless it does and I haven't figured out how to do it - does anyone know? I have to now draft the listing on the app, then go on my laptop to drafts and select custom postage! I like to use Royal Mail tracked 48 and have never had any issues with it at all. I do not want to use Simple Delivery. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Same here the app is useless I hate this new feature if they don’t change it soon I’m leaving

I’m using the app and the workaround someone posted (works on browser too)

click on collection only then click again on postage only 

and custom options should appear

I offer Free Postage on all my items, something I'm openly encouraged to do by eBay. I've checked an item that I've just listed and it appears the way the system works now is that eBay effectively dictates how much I have to pay for P&P. Put simply this means more control is being taken away from the Seller and selling cost estimations are now even more difficult to calculate - highly unimpressed.

I'm not going to read through every response to this topic, but can we not just create a template with "Advanced Shipping" set as the postage mode and then start every single item listing from there?

Same here, just phoned eBay and looks like I can’t choose an alternative to simple delivery anymore- which if that is the case I can’t use eBay in the future. I think the lunatics have taken over the asylum at eBay recently. They spend fortunes on advertising and then provide a product that is no longer fit for purpose

I just created a new template in browser (couldn’t see how to save a listing as a template) but anyhow 

excellent idea!! Not only is custom postage on there 

it also gives you the option of adding more than one delivery service of choice whereas before listing normally you only got one 

also free postage

I tried to list some items ( clothing) yesterday and I can’t change the simple delivery option, I have looked into it and apparently at ‘some time’ in 2025 eBay will make simple delivery a permanent feature and you can’t opt out ! So it looks like I have no choice 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Use a template, it works!
It can never be compulsory, too many delivery/courier companies to chose from - unless eBay bans a dozen or so!

 This is what I read, I’ve tried and tried and cannot take the simple delivery off my listings very frustrating ! . I’m not particularly I.T. Literate but will try a template as you suggest, thank you for your help .

Oh, it IS going to be compulsory - as has now been confirmed by an eBay community staffer.

I think you hit the nail on the head ‘shut up for now’! Watch yourself, they will be back like a darn rash before you know it! I am having to opt out every time and it is driving me mad, they just want me to cave in and do EVERYTHING that they want me to do, well ebay unfortunately it is NOT your way or the highway and given the choice I will opt for the highway!
