Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

I have not had any discounts on sellers fees since February, yet friends and family are still receiving them. Is anyone having the same experience?

i would put my money on no fvf because of the changes coming in next week re the 300 free listings and that is also when the date passes for the 'privates' to change to businesses i believe.  Too much of a coincidence otherwise.

No, just contact with eBay, being a member for 15 years and doing my own research

Re: Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

The last time these offers stopped for me was around / during the Covid Lockdown and coincided with ebay making a press statement that it was awash with new accounts and extra listings.  From both shut-down B&M businesses and bored locked indoors / cash strapped private sellers.

Personally I'm sure that the offers stopping and the reduction in free listings for private sellers are connected to the new HMRC reporting rules in some way, but don't panic just yet.

It might be some new (un-announced) policy change or, just as easily, because once again ebay is swamped by listings due to sellers listing like crazy before ebay asks for their NINOs.

Or, knowing ebay, it could be for something entirely different which we will never be told about.  The last time I (and others) thought they were gone for good, only to have them re-start again after the lock-downs finished and listing numbers went back to their more usual state of decline.

So things are clear now. 70/80% is over, no fees for all private sellers and banhammer is ready to hit. Everyone will be business shortly.

True.  Now the offer is 100%.  Every weekend.  And all through every week.

And you're "game over" problem is... what??

Are you broken, the topic is about 80% off final value fee, the 100% relates to the transaction fee i.e listing fees, he is correct it is GAME OVER  for the 80%

Re: Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

It is 100%, you pay for nothing unless you promote your listing or post internationally:

'On Tuesday, eBay said its move, which has taken effect immediately, meant private sellers would no longer pay so-called final value fees or regulatory operating fees when they sold on the site'

You are the one that's 'broken'.  There are no longer any final value fees for private sellers (bar motors).  So they have gone from random 70 or 80% off to constant 100% off.

Just realised it's now free as in no more fvf! Can the hostile crew on here please do on now? Not sure why people are so angry in a general discussion. Thanks all, enjoy your 100% off vouchers!

Re: Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

I think for a lot of people this is of course fantastic, especially with authenticity checks free too. However, private accounts are now worried that eBay could potentially hold their funds and make their account Business.

Some people have won, some have lost

Re: Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

Well, although i used to get the promotion every 2 weeks and often didnt bother to use it........it honestly did not bother me paying full fees.    IF i was paying any fees it meant my items were actually selling.

Re: Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

It sure is a bit of a minefield.

How many times does one have to pay tax....especially if forced to become a business seller and mainly sell inherited items that inheritance tax has already been paid on.

Re: Have 80% off sellers fees been discontinued?

Well, of course you have to pay the responsible taxes you are due, eBay can help with that if anyone is confused, but it is the seller's responsibility.

I don't know where the tax line is drawn from collecting things for years and not intending profit, yet achieving it, inherting valuable items, buying and selling a couple things etc etc

It is up to the individual to do a self assessment and decide if they owe taxed income

There is no income tax when you sell inherited items.
