GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

Right, thats me leaving for now

After having sold abook cheaply, and having eBay force me to try and use Evri, after it was specifically excluded.  I had to cancel the sale and received a really arrogant msg back from the buyer

I spoke to CS and they offered a goodwill gesture of £5 credit to my ebay acc.

Enough is enough, all my listings have now been removed and will stay around just to see if they realise the error of SD and the position it has put honest sellers in

So if your selling take care and good luck, I will see you all on the other side

You are one of many staying around and hoping things will improve i am sorry that you had to go through that. I took mine off 3 weeks ago foreseeing this

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

I'm still trying top wrap my had around with what reason ebay would force sellers to use Evri label when they specifically exclude Evri ??

I mean they've made SD mandatory so might as well take that option out rather than be pretentious about giving an option.

@manyjamjar

In certain cases, if your preferred carrier can't accept your item, we'll provide you with a label for a carrier you've opted out of in your settings. For example, if your parcel exceeds your preferred carrier's size or weight limits, we may send your item with an alternative carrier. For more information about carrier options and postage rates, see our Simple Delivery Seller Centre page.

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

My listings are coming off in time for the 15th ,our local evri parcel drop off shop has had problems for months we heard this evening from an ebay seller who was in our little post office at 5.15 tonight  ,not enough paper to print labels or receipts ,and the nearest other drop off shop is a couple of miles away and can be unreliabel too . We shouldn't have to be cancelling orders because evri can't get their act together . No point staying on here to get customers moaning at us for orders being cancelled or late .And sales are so poor ,may as well give up wasting my life looking at my computer screen incase I have a sale .I even had a sale cancel yesterday just as I was going to post grrrrrrr.

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

This whole Simple Delivery fiasco is tipping people over the edge... it is bad enough that eBay introduce a system that nobody wants, excluding many sellers with requirements that are not being catered for... but to have it override preferences whenever it thinks it knows best, is the final slap in the face!

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

What’s any scenario that eBay could force a seller to use evri?

seeing as Royal Mail cover the whole of the UK where’s evri does not

That link contains an excessive amount of 'don't know', 'there's an issue', 'we're working on this', 'we'll get back to you', 'yadda, yadda, yadda'.

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

Exceptions may occur where your preferred carrier is unavailable due to the seller’s location or package size which will require the alternative carrier to be used.

not relevant to Royal Mail

if your package is bigger than RM medium you would be exempt from SD and be able to send custom with a service of your choice

in any case how do they know it’s bigger than what’s in the listing when they issue the label…they don’t and no one would list something which is past the maximum dimensions allowed

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

I have delisted my items but i am coming on here a couple of times a day just to see what is happening but i am amazed at how much time i have now to do other things that used to be taken up with e baying!   Its like a new lease of life because at the moment i am not even looking at anywhere else (still got loads of stuff to get rid of though!)  For now i am just enjoying the break.

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

puts me off buying as well because i know our local EVRI courier will not deliver so no point in risking it.  So sellers have lost another customer as well!

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

the scenario that they will have it in their contract with EVRI that they will have x amount of parcels a week/month etc and if it looks like they are not reaching it they will just force people on to it!  Or am i just being a conspiracy nut......

come on now, do you really expect the front of house staff to know anything when the back room boys cannot get it right??

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

It does seem somewhat unlikely that Evri would be unable to carry a book - I've sent plenty with them, in fact - but thanks for that piece of valuable information all the same.

Re: GoodBye, so Long and thanks for all the fish

I used to only sell on eBay and never went elsewhere.

Since eBay no longer wants private sellers it seems.

Been an eBay member since October 2000 and selling since 2001.

This week I have been selling via Facebook groups and made over £235 in sales in 3 days.

Zero selling or buyers tax (for the buyers).

Got paid before I sent the items.

Select and pay for the postage I choose as best option (Royal Mail collect from home 24 hour tracked and bring label).

I have now removed these listings from eBay.

Next to sell are some gold coins (I have sold over £10k worth via eBay over last 3 years) that I will do via gold bullion dealers. I have worked out difference in price taking into consideration (Buyers tax - the seller pays in reality via lower selling price) is almost zero.

Also once again you get paid on the spot more or less and you get to select safest postage method.

Im also looking at local auctions.

I will leave my current listings active and let them wither on the vine.

Should I make a sale and the postage eBay selects isn’t up to standard then I will simply cancel sale and explain to buyer why.
