Hey all,
This morning I've had several customers contact me from the US saying that even though they are watching my items, and could purchase them yesterday through the GSP they can no longer do this and all my other items that they are not watching are now no longer showing in the US.
To check this I've had somebody I know in the US check mine, and other UK sellers to see if its just me, but it seems its everybody! they can no longer purchase and the postage option is no longer showing.
Was the US Just turned off? or taken off the list?
Was there any news, or information on this?
This is a big hit to sales as eBay is used for global sales for us.
I know the UK was taken off the international program in the US for toys a few months ago, but i wonder if this is simliar?

I had a sale to a US buyer a couple of days ago - I had GSP switched on and thought nothing of it. After a day I looked at the listing and it said I had to provide a cost for postage to the US and an invoice. Took a bit of investigating to find out eBay had switched off the GSP without warning. I did send the invoice but even though it should have been considerably cheaper than a GSP shipment for the buyer, they haven't paid. So frustrating, sales are slow enough without this! eBay are the worst company for comms I've ever known.

@pillarboxred wrote:President Trump has caused chaos in the international trading order. EBay, the company, has little say in it. The problem could be that companies might be liable to pay the tariffs if their consumers weren't shown them before buying because sellers were not in the possession of the information when making their listings. It is a mess and it is Trump's mess, let us not forget that.
The GSP is considered the exporter of items forwarded through the service. It really has to have its ducks in a row when it comes to presenting items to CBP, particularly when it comes to information pertaining to the items’ country of origin or country of manufacture. I’m wondering if the listings that do not have GSP re-enabled do not have country of origin/manufacture information in the listings’ “item specifics” section, or that they’re in categories where this information is difficult or impossible to ascertain.

I don't have many listings, but they all have the country of manufacture specified, but none have the US coming up in the GSP.
As I have said before, there is no rhyme or reason for the listings that do have US GSP - category and country of origin are irrelevant.

A reminder that it's nearly 4 weeks since this whole saga started.

Had 1 item for sale with GSP and this morning it worked. Buyer from USA could buy my item and I was able to ship it to GSP centre. Some progress after waiting for 3-4 weeks.

This is why it's ridiculous that it hasn't been re-enabled for all items at this point. We're simply up against eBay's incompetence, seemingly.

In fairness, eBay UK is up against the whims of an incompetent US administration.

That's not the reason for why some items are active re US GSP and others aren't. It is completely random and has nothing to do with category etc.

I guess another way to put it is that the tariff issues aren't down to eBay, but the GSP mishandling of it sure is.

I suspect part of the problem is that eBay doesn’t actually operate the Global Shipping Programme, so it’s at the mercy of the outfit contracted to operate it. I have no idea how the Programme’s operations have been affected by Pitney Bowes pulling the plug on its e-commerce and logistics operations in the United States, but that certainly can’t help matters.

Pretty amazing then that another company operates it who are as incompetent as eBay.
07-06-2025 8:47 AM
Incompetent only because they’re playing outside of their areas of expertise. Neither Pitney Bowes nor eBay are specialists in logistics and international freight. Why are you relying on an online marketplace and subcontractors to handle your international shipments?

Why do you continually make excuses for eBay & their GSP fiasco, with all due respect?
If a company offers a shipping service, I expect it to work to a satisfactory degree. There is no rhyme or reason as to which listings have UK to US GSP.

Dear Marco
Please can you provide us all with an update on this situation?
What is the latest position with shipping to the US being included in the Global Shipping Programme?
Many thanks

I’m explaining, not making excuses or defending. I suppose if I were to explain the rise and fall of the Third Reich, you’d claim I was making excuses for Hitler.
I notice you didn’t respond to my question about why you rely on this platform to handle the international forwarding of your items instead of doing it yourself. You’re not paying eBay a penny more to do this compared to handling the shipping yourself. You get what you pay for, IMO.

No need to be churlish and sarcastic.
It's an odd person who thinks that over 4 weeks of this debacle can be deemed acceptable with no end in sight.

I live in Florida, just purchased a diamond ring from UK I was told it's not deliverable and a refund will be given and the seller will not receive the item back!
Totally disappointed!

I presume the item reached the Global Shipping Programme in the UK? You'd be able to see that from tracking.

I used to but that was a long while ago eBay has changed somewhat and the global shipping option was far easier but suddenly they can’t support global shipping for reasons they won’t share with sellers. I prefer my funds available 48 hours after delivery to the UK shipping facility not waiting up to 10 days for the item to arrive in the US then a further two days before I get my funds, quite simple really.
