Ebay updated their Privacy Policy on 21st April. Our friends in Germany have picked up that Ebay is now using our personal data to train their AI programs, and the German data protection regulatory body has objected on the following grounds.
Furthermore, there is a lack of information about which AI models will be used. In our opinion, the requirements for transparency regarding the planned data processing have not yet been sufficiently met."

We collect your personal data when you use our Services, create a new eBay account, provide us with information via a web form, add or update information in your eBay account, participate in online community discussions or otherwise interact with us.
It'll probably implode then 😀.

Maybe it was in one of the new update emails on terms and conditions and what bots that people tend to just delete without reading
should have been a specific email about this specific thing
but they’re all at it harvesting and using
end of the day they can do bugger all with it against your will
well apart from sell it all on I suppose 😐🙄🙄

Thank you, that was very helpful. We have to constantly keep our eyes on the small print with these people.

They rely on most of us not reading these 'boring' updates... hope they haven't already assimilated us all... 👾👾👾
It seems to be the case that if you do anything online, someone - or something - is snooping on you...🤓

Opted out - thanks

Opted out. Thank you for the information. These corporations/institutions are getting out of control. They now operate with the knowledge that people don't read their 'updates' fully, or if they do, they can't understand them properly. They brazenly carry on with their nasty little policies in plain sight. Everything is written in such vague and complex terms as to be possible to wriggle out of any situation that is detrimental to them with a suitable team of well paid corporate lawyers. "It's in the T&Cs so jog on!", they say. People feel reassured when a company's privacy policy says 'We will never sell your data!" but they don't realise that technically that means it can be given away for that all encompassing phrase "for research purposes". But as we know, you don't get anything for free these days.

Thank you for making us aware of this...I have just opted out.
