Ebay simple delivery opt out

So ebay have decided to force private sellers to use simple delivery for all listings.

Previously you could select advanced options in postage and select your preferred postage method  as before.

Did ebay announce this to private sellers - did they ....

I searched around a while and eventually got this from the chat bot:

"Eligible listings will show Simple Delivery as an option when you're creating a listing. Starting 15 April, 2025, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing eligible items."

The recent changes like BPF and simple delivery have been extremely irritating but not terminal. I think this is terminal for me.

I cannot express on this forum without getting deleted my extreme annoyance with ebay.

Side hustlers are businesses even if low volume ones.  They should not have private accounts. 

You have put them in  the wrong 'stream'.

So what items are eligible for this rubbish or what isn't? Is there any way around it.

Also this seems to have been forced onto me when I've revised a listing. Why does it do that when I've not changed anything to do with postage?

Also I  just sold something for £9 and it didn't have any postage applied to it. It's very confusing.

I just sold something that was free postage for which I pay £1.80 for a large letter, Stupid Delivery took it over and changed it to a small parcel £3.38, so now I'm out of pocket by £1.58.

Also I now have to check my listings again to see what else it has auto updated.

Wish they would stop making these auto updates and just make Stupid Delivery optional.

It's very frustrating to sort out junk at home, find some flat things which could be posted cheaply as Large Letters, and then realise that Ebay will insist on designating them as £3 parcels which makes them uncompetitive. So you give up and don't list them. Meanwhile the big book mill companies clearly have access to ultra-cheap postage deals, because they will send you a paperback (ie the goods themselves AND free postage) for way less than Ebay will charge simply for the postage.

When sending an item through click and drop there is a tracking number above the QR code. You can still post it your way and input that tracking number, deleting the simple delivery tracking. Then claim back the simple delivery label. It seems possible anyway.

It all went wrong, probably my fault. I couldn't find the address to send it to so I clicked on the label and it automatically produced it. So I am stuck with it, can't even change it to collection, so will have to get someone to take it to the Post Office for me as well.

Have checked some of my other items and have changed them back to large letter.

Has anyone else noticed the formatting is changed when eBay update Stupid Delivery? I have different fonts and colours on mine to make it look nicer, when they do a Stupid Delivery update I have noticed that some of my items no longer have the formatting, just continuous lines of text with no paragraph breaks, it looks awful.

To get the delivery address I go to order details page and at the top right is 'print invoice'. I click that and I can download it onto my tablet and see the address.

It is not your fault in any way because you are being forced to do something you don't want to do and if you were not forced to do it then there would be no issue - simple as that.
