So ebay have decided to force private sellers to use simple delivery for all listings.
Previously you could select advanced options in postage and select your preferred postage method as before.
Did ebay announce this to private sellers - did they ....
I searched around a while and eventually got this from the chat bot:
"Eligible listings will show Simple Delivery as an option when you're creating a listing. Starting 15 April, 2025, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing eligible items."
The recent changes like BPF and simple delivery have been extremely irritating but not terminal. I think this is terminal for me.
I cannot express on this forum without getting deleted my extreme annoyance with ebay.

I found it purely by accident.
I sent an email to the CEO of eBay Jamie Lannone, 10 days later I received a reply from someone he passed it to, giving a cut & paste job of why Simple Delivery is better for us.
If anyone else wants to send him an email it is:
He might want to know what we think at the moment. 🙂

Hi cat, @its_a_cats_life, i emailed him too, no rely as yet, but good to know he does at least get a reply sent. I had a call from Ebay today saying I'd requested a call back, i hadn't but decided to take the opportunity to vent a little.
My problem, as i have mentioned many times is inappropriate price of SD for some liw value small items. I said all i can do is list in less suitable categories where custom delivery is accepted. He said, thats fine. I know he was telling me what i wanted to hear, but everything will be posted as jewellery from now on. As previously discusded also, no one searches by category.

While it's true that nobody searches by category, Ebay AI may restrict the search results to show only the items where the majority of listings are located.
I know this because when I did a search on price for a toy car I have for sale it had mysteriously 'disappeared'. It's ended up in the wrong place (I based it on a sell similar) and now I can't change category without losing custom postage.
So you may just want to check your items are still popping up as expected when you do a search. Hopefully they still are.

Hi goodibags @goodibags
Yeah, i may have exagerated a little about it all going to Jewellery, but the nearest category with custom delivery is best. I did wonder about the search and so far it seems ok.

What a con. EBay making private sellers go bust for personal gain

Had a callback from Ebay today re another matter on my other account which I had not been too happy about. I then changed the subject to Simple Delivery and made them aware of how frustrating it was that I couldn't currently sell due to the changes and the CS advisor told me they were terminating the call, before hanging up on me! Seems the CS team are as sick of it as we are.

Hi @waytogo2 Yes, it's strange how calls get dropped when the questions get difficult. I think to be fair to the individuals who work CS, they just haven't been trained and lets face it if they have just mad the written information we have seen they don't stand a hope in hell of adding anything worthwhile to the conversation. even the Community team have gone around in circles with the way it works.

If eBay decided to launch a new postal system that is causing a variety of problems for sellers, the least eBay could do is ensure CS are able to answer these queries & concerns.
Looks like they just expected us to 'muddle along' with Simple Delivery - and have no better understanding of its workings than we do!

The best thing for all of us is soooooo, soooooo simple.
All they have to do is keep the Simple Delivery, but make it optional.
That way both eBay and users are happy. If you want to use it you can and if not you select the options you want.
I just don't understand why eBay cannot see this.

It's clear how ebay is reshaping and homogenising the entire platform from the buyer's point of view, by seizing full control of despatch and shipping. Private sellers merely become operators feeding into ebay's supply chain. The fun days of auctions are long gone and buyers just want to BIN or go on Temu instead. ebay has become very impersonal, and I particularly resent ebay bossing me around with a task list, never mind struggling to comply with their simple delivery (oxymoron).

Monster Hugs that was so eloquently said. 😀

Me too. I've just given something away as didn't know I was supposed to use simple delivery. I don't trust ebays choice of courier. I booked another courier before realising, and as I can't mark dispatched, I won't get paid.

You will get paid!
Add the tracking used, shown below, you may need a laptop / PC not the app or mobile browser, and try Chrome, that seems to work well with eBay. With Simple delivery your payout is sent to you within 24 hours of the buyer paying, if your account is in good standing.
The method you have chosen, tracking has to show delivery , and payout is released 2 days after tracking has shown delivery, if no other holds are in place.
For all its current faults, using SD does facilitate a faster payout.
Currently eBay's courier's are Evri Royal Mail and other couriers we hear, are soon to be added.

Hi 72florence,
I did the same so I contacted ebay via the chat and they gave me a link which allowed me to mark the item as dispatched and add a tracking number if you have one.

I might be the odd one out here but faster payment is bottom of my priority list. At the top is offering buyers the best price and, by choosing my own shipping, I was better able to do that before. As mentioned above, I've lost that facility needlessly, because what eBay actually charges me to post is usually considerably less than what it forces me to factor in to my pricing.
All they need to do is make it optional, like before, or provide a better formula/calculator so that I can adjust my prices. I do actually like being charged less for shipping, but I would like to be able to pass on that saving!

I sell some small knitwear items for £9.99. Buyer protection puts it up to £10.77. I give free postage for a large letter that costs me £1.55, £1.85 if I have it collected by RM.
The Simple Delivery has changed some of them to small parcel and £3.35. When I see this I have to go in and change it to large letter, which then charges £2.72, so I am out by over £1.
We just need then to make it optional.

Do express your extreme annoyance - and so should everybody else - and do it repeatedly because it is important for ebay to understand the magnitude of what they have done. I believe Simple Delivery could turn out to be their MySpace moment and this could well be the beginning of the end for ebay and it is all so unnecessary.

I also noted that on the BIN items they update to SD if you revise the item, so I still have some with the original postage and some with SD postage.
Also my listings use customised formatting, fonts, colours and sizing, on some occasions, it has removed the formatting and returned it to plain text with no spacing, so it looks like a continuous set of wording with no line breaks.
I have to go back in and redo it all again.
