Ebay's new buyer protection scam

So I have been a seller on and off her since June 2001, Over the years I have sent items recorded delivery that either never turn up , or arrive with no notification of delivery.  Now someone wants to charge a buyer a fee for safe delivery, when they would have been charged that in the P&P cost.  Frankly it sounds more like a scam than customer service and Ebay are also trying to force us to use their shipping option, So much for free enterprise, sound like trying to get the monopoly on delivery as well.  As for hanging on the sellers cash til 2 days after delivery, really so post office goes on strike and you don't get paid, Think I may start looking to leave. So much for eBay's loyalty to us .

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

I looked at SD and the 10kg price is missing medium parcel. It goes from 2kg to 15kg, another fine mess. Can't give any more kudos it seems i have hit a daily limit

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Yes, it really is a poor show. One item I am selling I have chosen "simple deliver' and clicked on buyer pays, but in the summary on selling it says "you pay" for stage although, the Ad details says that it is the buyer who has to pay.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Now the buyer sees a "new" fee and many don't like it, thinking they're paying extra.

And unless the buyer reduces his selling price, the buyer will pay more!!

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

What a performance I have had this morning when I couldn’t send my sold items without creating a postage label even though my buyer had paid for Royal Mail as I wanted.
I am so frustrated that I have removed my items for sale as I don’t want the stress.
I have spoken to eBay this morning for approximately one hour trying to resolve the issue. I could not get the buyers address without creating a label.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Just so greedy time to say goodbye Ebay, if this happens to me I will cancel the order & refund the buyer with the reason why as you say its just not worth the hassle.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

They seem to be going down the route of business sellers but they don't realise that most come for cheaper used or unopened items that the seller does not need any more. I am guessing businesses still pay to list so they have included the buyer protection so they are happy about the changes.

Everytime I see the advert it is free to sell on Ebay I will report it to ofcom for misleading as all they have done is move the fees to the buyer and called it BP. They get the seller to post tracked so there is little risk for Ebay and just pick up the money.

More annoying is, nobody from Ebay has commented which further cements that they it is a scam

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Yes it's completely terrible,  I took all my stuff of the other day,  and that was on my business account,  not going to put a lot of work in,  then sweating hoping the postman scans it so I get paid. Good bye ebay and good riddance...got too big for your boots 👢

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

There is a glitch in the system they say. Didn’t stop me being so frustrated I cannot even start to pack and post my sold items.
I prefer the old EBay - don’t even mind paying sellers fees.

Business sellers do not have to wait until items are delivered to get paid. Nothing would have changed for you as it only applies to private sellers.

What is very interesting is Vinted new tv adverts clearly stating that there is a buyer fee.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Some of your recent sales have Simple Delivery on them where the buyer pays eBay for the label and you get a link to download the label.

If you don't use the supplied label and buy your own,you are paying for the postage and will not receive the payment for the postage the buyer has paid

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

I can see that.
I’ve used their Evri system this evening. Had to due to not being able to access the address. Had to make two journeys as I had five parcels and got confused so had to go back home to find correct packages. I’m thinking of giving up !!!!
Never had any problems before all these changes. EBay are following Vinted…..and this is why I never sell with Vinted. Too complicated.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

I think it's worth stating that my sales as a private seller have absolutely tanked since eBay introduced the BPF. I can't be the only private seller that has been affected in this way. Clearly eBay prefers to have business sellers who are exempt from this stealth tax and can undercut private sellers like me. Seriously considering giving up selling on eBay after 16 years and donating all my stock to charity.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

I feel like the lack of common sense at eBay is catastrophic to put it mildly. This so-called business strategy was not thought through properly and has shown from the beginning, especially after this BPF fiasco that they are a very poorly managed business.

Re: Ebay's new buyer protection scam

Yes, I have also been affected in this way, nothing is selling and the offers I'm getting are so ridiculously low that it's not worth my while anymore..
