Hi everyone
I just read Ebay news yesterday 11/12/2023 at the Sun what Ebay will change next year:

@red357rose yes a couple of threads on this, it seems to have flown under the radar for many.
I’m glad the mass media is picking up on it.

So will the private seller be forced to buy postage from ebay ??
12-12-2024 9:32 AM
Yes, it seems it'll start as voluntary but apparantly ebay have implied it will become compulsory. As ever the Sun are making it sound more disastrous than it probably will be but we'll have to wait and see.

I've never bought postage label from ebay. Always bought via RM online.
so it seem either I get used to buying postage off ebay or stop selling on ebay ??

There is no way I am paying to reject cookies on that rag, and no way am I accepting their cookies.
Did they mention that it is only applicable to purchases from private sellers or was it the usual hack reporting?

I use stamps for all my sales. It will be end of for me if postage is mandatory. I will have to go and sell where I can use my stamps .. probably Etsy. If I am forced to sell elsewhere then I will shop elsewhere also.

Is there option to opt out of "simple delivery" right now ??

Where is the announcement on the eBay news on this platform?
Have eBay forgot we exist?

It is not even available to use at the moment. I don't (won't because I will leave) use it. However it is not showing up as an option when I create a listing (even in the clothes section) .

It's only in the updated user agreement that we all got.

This is worth a read.
15 - says you may opt out (but are they going to change that).
It also says eBay will determine which items are eligible for the Services .. then does not go on to say what.
I feel really unsettled selling here at the moment.

Oh dear looks like 3bays PR firm took the Scun 'journo' to a rubbish restaurant or wouldn't pay for a the fourth round of Sambukas.
Otherwise it'd be 'Users cheer brilliant new rules that'll transform how we shop online!!!' 'Watch out Bunted and FleePop, the original granddaddy of the web is coming after you!!!' etc...

Yes, i am opted out but i cannot remember where i did it. No way will i be doing simple delivery come February when this is supposed to be coming in. Bye bye e bay for me.
12-12-2024 12:45 PM
GOOD HEAVENS!! You seriously expect e bay to make an announcement about this more than a couple of days before doing it.....

Re. opt out it says;
"15. Opt out.
You may opt your item out of the Simple Delivery Services at the time of listing only. "

Decent companies, when they update their user agreements, show users which clauses have changed and how.
Why am I not surprised that ebay never do this?

OMG, things I never ever expected to see: a blatant admission from someone that they read the Sun.
🙂
Hey, I'm in shock/horror at the changes coming down the line next year, so I have to find something to lighten my mood wherever I can. I suspect I'm only a few months away from ceasing selling on ebay, and I may have no alternative but to hire a skip.
12-12-2024 4:22 PM
... make that 2 skips : I'm joining you... 🙁
