I just read Ebay news yesterday 11/12/2023 at the Sun what Ebay will change next year:

I've just read the link about this and there's one but I don't get. Sellers not getting paid till the buyer confirms delivery. Now, 99% of items get delivery confirmation of through full tracking, so why does a buyer need to confirm delivery. EBay think this will reduce claims/disputes and I don't see it, because if no delivery confirmation comes with an item, then the buyer can still claim they haven't received it, even though they have. So I'm guessing this will be something else that will push selling costs up, as everything will now have to go tracked or with delivery confirmation, even on small items.

Buyers paying a fee as well is ridiculous, for apparently better protection, better protection from what, because if an item doesn't arrive, you get refunded and if it's not as described, it goes back for a refund, so I don't see the 'better protection'.

Why EBay have to continue to keep messing with things I have no idea, they seem determined to self implode 🤔

I used the pay per click recently and had limited success but i made sure my cost per click max was 5p. Now u can't do that. Have to let ebay decide, and they decide 20p+ only.

I think it's delivery confirmation through tracking, not a positive action by the buyer. But I could be wrong.

What? Sell something worth over £750 on ebay these days?

Unless you can afford to lose £750 and would be relaxed about it. In which case, I have a nice bridge that might interest you?

I wouldn't list an item at that price either. But the person I was replying to was asking about an 'expensive' item they had for sale. As they didn't say what price that was, I was just quoting the current guidelines for SD.

As posted in another thread, I have items that have been delivered but not showing as delivered, tracked and untracked, from October, now I could easily have got refunds for those items if I was dodgy and all the new way will do is give more free items to unscrupulous buyers as the system doesn't work now.

I just read that and it doesn't mention the UK as it's only for the EU and Northern Ireland!

So will sellers will just turn off those areas?

I think international selling should only be for special things which can't be easily sourced locally. For example, over the years I've spoken to Italian collectors in Edinburgh who have massively overpaid for Staffordshire pottery in antiques shops in Italy. I'm not talking about Toft plates but the really common types of Staffordshire Comforter dogs, Wally Dugs, Staffordshire Spaniels, figurines and tableware which aren't common in Italy. Somehow they don't seem to buy them on eBay. They were just shocked by how little I was asking in my shop when I had it. The UK market is large enough to absorb most "ordinary" items which raise ordinary prices. You need Overseas to drawn in any big bidders there might be for special items.

Yep, most already have thanks to GPSR. This is another I’ll thought out market protection move IMO.

Yes likewise. I sell banknotes and coins on eBay, so the type of customer who appreciates an envelope full of commemorative stamps. I’m happy to use them too as I buy the stamps at under face value from reputable stamp dealers. If reports are true that I will no longer et be able to do this, it’ll be so frustrating I’ll probably have a break for a while. It seems quite controlling- surely EBay makes enough on postage as most people must use their labels etc already. They probably have to pay for their new no sales fees policy somehow.
I’ll just have to use all my stamps up before the new owner of Royal Mail tries to demonetise them without a swop out scheme!
