Ebay Simple Delivery Tracking Shows Delivered Buyer Claims INR

I sold an item on Monday, buyer messaged and requested I send it asap, so I posted it the same day. I used Simple Delivery via Evri, estimated delivery time of 22nd to 25th November. Buyer messaged last night asking when it would be delivered. I sent tracking details over, he said he had the tracking details but he hadn't received it yet. The item was delivered today, tracking details show a photo of the parcel on a chair. The buyer says he lives in a flat, the chair is in his foyer but he hasn't had it. Where do I stand, and how do I respond?  Thank you.

If the tracking shows delivery the buyer won't win a "not received" case with ebay.   Ask him to ask his neighbours.   It sounds like someone in his building has taken it in.

Or just taken it, more likely...

but fingers crossed... hope it turns up.

Where do I stand, and how do I respond?

eBay handle Simple Delivery delivery and loss issues. Having uploaded the Tracking Number was enough, there was no need to respond to the Buyer's first 'Where is it?' message, as eBay make it clear they handle these. I would let eBay take it from here.

That said, for people in a similar situation to the Buyer, couriers have a duty of care to deliver packages securely. Left on a chair in a foyer is not secure! So if it were my parcel that was missing, I would collect any Tracking evidence of unsecure delivery (or mistaken location) and request a callback from eBay Customer Service. When this happed to me CS refunded immediately.

Thank you for the replies. I have just replied asking him to check with neighbours. How do I pass him over to Ebay to deal with as his messages are getting quite rude?

You can report the messages to ebay via the three little dots at the top right of the actual message.    Don't reply again.

I've just told him to open a case with ebay. Thank you for all the replies.

He's just threatened to neg me for not helping him, will ebay remove this? Short of going round and knocking on his neighbour's doors I'm not sure what else I could have done.

They might do.   It's always worth asking, if it comes to that.  Their feedback policy says:
We remove neutral/negative feedback when the item was posted using Simple Delivery and there was an issue caused by the eBay label provided.

I'll try that then if he follows through with his threat.

If you click the "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me" box in your buyer requirements then add the buyer's eBay user ID to your blocked buyers list they won't be able to message you directly any further.

Also, where Simple Delivery is concerned you can request removal of any negative or neutral feedback regarding delivery.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
