Ebay Is Conning Us

So if I sell a vinyl record to someone for £4 it will cost the buyer £4.85? What is this nonsense? It won't be worth selling small items after Feb 4th. EBay are going to lose 1000s of sellers and buyers.

Re: Ebay Is Conning Us

I used to get it every two weeks but i also never delisted my items on the weeks it was full fee and by coincidence most of my sales were during the full fee period.  Did not care as long as the items sold, no fees was just a nice bonus.

But you didn't have to deliver to still get the 70% off.  If you put an item on Buy It Now, even if it sold on day 30 you'd get the discount, or say a 10 day auction would be the same. The 4 day offer was when you had to list it.

And when did you become the arbiter of who can and who cannot comment on this thread?.......Oh the irony!

What on earth are you talking about? The more comments the better good or bad.

Exactly! I think that you may have misunderstood my comment? My post was in reply to `Kath 3735`, who in an earlier post commented " If you do not like a thread or are fed up of it etc stop flipping reading it then and certainly do not bother responding". It was ironic because they were saying that I had no place telling other sellers what to do .....and then proceed to tell me that I should not post comments!

Re: Ebay Is Conning Us

I wonder if all the private sellers can expect more sales after the 4th when the 75p +% bolt on is applied?

I guess the 'public buyers' will have to just dig deep and suck it up?

Ha Ha! The "eBay Community Team" have just sent me an email to accept one of 70 replies as "a solution" to "my problem". I was about to reply but its a no reply message! You couldn't make this s**t up. EBay you're the problem, not me. I repeat yet again:

Stop conning us!

Good for you. I make a small profit, yes, from selling vinyl which are mostly bought from charity shops. Win win. But I enjoy it as both a hobby and a diversion from other matters. EBay take note, and stop screwing people.

So technically, you're a business seller! Buying to sell IS a business.

If you upgrade your account to a business account then problem solved  👍

Codswallop. You don't get it do you? Why do you have to be a,business seller to make a small profit? So by you're misguided thinking everyone who sells at auctions must be a business? Rubbish.

I anticipate that but I think I've made my point. I'll start on freedom of speech perhaps on my pending Sky News interview!I

Interestingly if you look at ebays Trustpilot rating its just 1.1 Star overall, Facebook Marketplace was higher and that's a scammers paradise.

Re: Ebay Is Conning Us

If you actually look at the Trustpilot reviews you will see that almost all of them are either about the seller or because the buyer did not understand how the money back guarantee works.

But I guess that doesn't suit your narrative.

The point being made about the business seller of vinyl was not the profit, but the fact that they bought to sell.

But that won't suit your narrative either.

Re: Ebay Is Conning Us

Given one of the badges of trade used by HRMC is 'Profit Seeking Motive' then if that auction seller was selling at an auction items they had purchased with the express intent to sell at auction then yes, they 'could' be seen as a business.

Why should it have to "suit my narrative"? What do you actually think a blog is about? Like many you don't know. People making a few quid in the appalling economic environment in this once great country hardly constitutes something HMRC would be remotely interested in.

Re: Ebay Is Conning Us

The thing is they are interested hence the reason why marketplaces are now required to submit a sellers activity to the HMRC from this month.

They don't have an issue of someone selling unwanted items they no longer need but selling for profit is a business whether you like this or not and something you have openly admitted on a public forum.

I have not admitted anything of the sort, others have. But  explain then why selling unwanted items is not for profit? Its contradictory in terms.
