EBay it’s the end for private sellers.

Well finally after changing the format of their selling platform it seems every couple of weeks you have come up with the ultimate level of stupidity with this latest total ridiculous set of changes. Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item they have sold who ever dreamt up this idea much be so far from reality as needing to push every part time seller off the site. I knew when they came up with the idea of free selling it wouldn’t be long before the idiots that run eBay came up with totally and ridiculous idea to claw back the money they have lost the whole senior management team at EBay must seat round a table all wearing clown costumes saying what is the most stupid idea we can come with to really get rid of half of our customers and the biggest clown wins with this idea and all the other yes people follow. Well I had started selling a few bits again but never again and will not be using EBay again to sell anything it has become a total joke of a company I hope your poor and flawed decisions finally catch up with this once great place to buy and sell has become a total joke.

My payments haven't been based on feedback. When the item is delivered the payment date appears in the Sellers list. Of course Ebay are hanging on to the money fir a couple of days.

as ever, i've no clue what you're talking about - this community pages is a farce.

ebay always retain payment, until two days after delivery.

I'll pay you, more quickly, if you would untangle me from this *bleep*py thread, in which i have absolutely no interest.

They wait two days after positive feedback. Because they can.
This will make them many millions in extra interest.

The post isn't about free selling though is it....

It's about Ebay thinking it's an escrow service and keeping sellers monies longer for more interest....So not sure why you're banging on about free selling....

It looks like the end of eBay full stop.

What's wrong with that?

They exceeded it, for me, once. a data error.

The 2nd time it happened, i called and, finally, they ensured it was paid
after two days.

But I've had funds clear quickly after the buyer left positive feedback

My frustration is that - like with an item now - there's no consistency and I'm

Waiting for funds to clear even after PF has been received

Was the item under £25?

The details on Ebay are ambiguous (now that is a shock) but positive feedback left only releases payment immediately for sales under £25 (excluding BPF etc.).

No, it isn't a shock at all.  Private sellers on ebay these days are expected to put up with ambiguous T&Cs deliberately made as confusing as ebay can make them.

They're not meant to understand anything, just do as ebay tells them and wait and see when / if their money arrives by one or other of the deadlines.

Same with SD, just do whatever ebay throws onto their screen and keep their fingers crossed that someone will deliver the item, hopefully to the right address and in one piece.

What has been imposed on private sellers is little better than racketeering for ebay's benefit.

Yes I have had to chase the buyers to ask them to mark as received or just wait a few weeks to receive my money without interest (it was not in my bank account).

Neither of those statements is accurate.

First of all, there is no way (never has been) for a buyer to mark an item as received.  Asking a buyer to do so is completely pointless.

Secondly, 'a few weeks' would suggest a fairly lengthy period of time.  Without tracking, funds are released 14 days after the transaction - so on day 15.  Not really excessive.  With tracking, payment is released to you 48 hours after the tracking shows delivery (on Ebay).

eBay dont need to bother. Amazon already has Multi Channel Fulfilment (MCF) where you can send your eBay orders out from your Amazon stock in their warehouse. It is a bit pricey at the moment and only worth it for high margin products, but it will not be long before they crack that particular nut. They were clearly not interested in buying the Royal Mail since they really didnt need to.

You will not be a private seller with that feedback rating.  6700+ positive feedbacks. That is a business in any man's books. If you think (wrongly) that you are a Private Seller, then you will be penalised for being in the wrong category.

If you think (wrongly) that being a Private Seller somehow has hidden you from HMRC assessments, you have a nasty shock coming.

Best to get your business into the business account category and make sure your self assessments are in okay. That way you may reduce the fines and interest you could be due for.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel by answering a 4 month old post, aren't you ?

I'd have thought that after 25 years on here you'd have at least learnt to look just a little bit further than a private sellers FB score before chucking baseless accusations around.  You could also brush-up on your fear tactics and get your facts right re. HMRC and ebay business accounts.  Your accusation must be one of the sloppiest and ill-informed attempts to blacken a private sellers name, I've seen for quite a long time.

Get it right!  87 feedback as a seller - the rest are purchases. Yet another business seller spouting incorrect information.

MCF is prohibitively more expensive for one very simple reason (because obviously it costs no more to fulfil than an FBA order

it makes FBA and selling on Amazon more appealing and forces prices up on off Amazon platforms.

You really need to get this logic that selling more than 30 items a year on eBay makes you a business out of your head.

it is categorically not true.
