Disillusioned With Selling And Buying

THIS THREAD IS NOT JUST TO POST  COMMENTS  THAT ARE NOT FACT.

I hope that there are now plenty of fed up private sellers and buyers who despise these new changes.

Ebay used to be a fun place to buy and sell but recently thanks to the greed of the shareholders and Owners it's becoming intolerable.

Once my last 5 listings hopefully sell there won't be anymore listed until ebay changes and go back to happier times. I even now buy things from companies direct that I once brought on ebay which now looks over their peak and on the downward slippery slope.

Holding payments, charges, and various fees for buyers and sellers are just a few. I cannot now trust or believe what ebay say.

I have typed from my own current personal experience and that does not make me a bootlick as you so eloquently put it.  There is still plenty wrong with the site but everyones personal experience is often different.

Yes people start companies to make money BUT it's how they do it that's the point.

I've enough life experience to know that once transparency becomes cloudy and excessive greed takes over it shows companies for what they are.

Coming up with sugar coated excuses is no answer.

Forgetting and not caring about the people who helped get them to where they are is not exactly a good image.

Private sellers removing listings in big numbers and less buyers buying must prove to even the biggest ebay fans that they've got it wrong.

Absolutely agree with what you said.

A person doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to see through this mess.

Eventually this will hit business sellers who rely a lot on private buyers.

But with sellers selling less or removing their listings it means buyers will buy less.

And so even the ebay fans can surely see that this negative chain reaction will have a big impact eventually.

Your right about PayPal being removed was the beginning.

Now sellers are selling less and removing listings which affects buyers. Buyers are buying less which affects sellers. Eventually this will effect business sellers.

A lot of private sellers and buyers no longer trust or believe the sugar coated reasons and excuses.

21 years and i can't be trusted to post an item so they keep my money for 14 days. I have put tracked on a lot of listings then feel bad because it's on low value, refund it and wait the 14 days. What happened to items under £10 will get the money in 24 hours if feedback left? On my 2 sales it says "untracked items payment in 14 days"

Paypal was Ebay's own payment and as they were trying to force sellers to use it they had to sell it off, had no choice. I still have it and can use it somewhere else where the site never touch the money and we can access it immediately. Paypal charge 30p per transaction + a % but i'm fine with that if the buyers are not fleeced

I don't mind taking the occasional loss on something I've sold because I sell and buy.

I state on my listings that I only charge what RM charge me for tracked postage.

My biggest gripes now are the items I have on sale being displayed at my starting price and as I send items tracked I think why should a buyer pay for buyer protection when tracked postage gives a level of compensation cover which might not be great for valuable items but I don't sell high value items.

So true. Not like the buyer protection as a example or the higher price on display on my listings when my actual starting price is lower.

The holding a sellers money gets me too.

I'm not far behind you regarding length of time on here and as far as I'm concerned I must be doing something right to have maintained a 100% feedback rating although that hardly counts for anything nowadays.

try reading my post no 49!  That is the truth and as for  @gccomics remark, i  think i have made it clear on here as well as elsewhere that i do not like the changes.  The difference is that i am not wasting my life moaning about them, i am getting on and seeing how they will work out.  When SD comes in i will be gone and will not be coming on here to cry over it.

i have not seen anyone on here say they have got it right, no one likes the changes but i am pretty sure that moaning and groaning about it on this forum is not going to change things.  The ONLY thing that will get them to change is if people do stop selling/buying and it DOES hit their profits.  That will only happen when enough people do it and that depends on what changes is a step too far for the individual.  I was not in favour of managed payments but  have never had a problem with it.  I do not like the BPF or the wait for payment but for me at least none have adversely affected me.  My sales have actually been good for me over the past month and they have paid out when they said whether on delivery notification or for one item so far on the 13th day because delivery was not marked.   Things will change with SD though because that is my step and i will be gone and not wasting time on here.

Don't get me wrong I'm not Anti ebay.

But as ebay are known for not listening or really caring these forums are for discussion and gives normal private sellers and buyers a chance to vent their anger and annoyance at most of these changes.

I could come up with a list of things that I would like a proper explanation about and not just some sugar coated excuse.

I honestly think ebay have miscalculated the intelligence of a lot of private sellers and buyers.

Also because ebay are like they are droves of sellers and buyers are looking at other options online, and have come to the conclusion that actions speak louder than words hence that why sellers are removing listings and selling so much less. That has a knock on effect to buyers, and eventually business sellers will feel it too.

SD will be the absolute last straw for me. I will not have how I post items dictated to by Artificial Idiots or by anyone apart from me.

Not being funny but 7 years on ebay isn't exactly a long time. If your happy  joining  the ebay fan club thats your choice.

As I mentioned before this is a discussion forum and it gives normal private sellers and buyers a chance to state their views and annoyance.  Maybe you think the people complaining are excessive but that's just your opinion.

There are an awful lot of opinions that differ from yours.

At no time have I ever said I expected it to be free. I was happy paying seller fees because back then things were transparent. But now it's excuse after excuse for trying to squeeze as much as they think they can get away with.  It'll be interesting to see the outcome over the next 6-12 months.

Potential buyers will see MY price in the item description. I state that ebay will add their fee at checkout at the bottom of the description. But I haven't sold anything for 2 weeks. I have made the overall price look more usual instead of these random odd figures. This has made my price look odd until the BPF is added to it. It makes it easier for buyers to add on the separate postage in their head to get a total I think.

I am not surprised you are not selling with what you have in your description.

Ebay won't add any fees at checkout, that's never been how it works (unless you send offers), the buyer will only ever pay the price they see on the listing,  plus whatever postage you listed, which will be broken down into it's various components at checkout.

At the moment your buyers have no idea what they might pay,  based on your description,  because you don't specify the fee amount.  That would be extremely off putting, as well as completely wrong.

If i am honest i believe you are overthinking things and maybe confusing potential buyers.

I am just listing a couple of items and letting Ebay add on the extra cost .........it is not putting anyone off bidding and buying 🙂
