THIS THREAD IS NOT JUST TO POST COMMENTS THAT ARE NOT FACT.
I hope that there are now plenty of fed up private sellers and buyers who despise these new changes.
Ebay used to be a fun place to buy and sell but recently thanks to the greed of the shareholders and Owners it's becoming intolerable.
Once my last 5 listings hopefully sell there won't be anymore listed until ebay changes and go back to happier times. I even now buy things from companies direct that I once brought on ebay which now looks over their peak and on the downward slippery slope.
Holding payments, charges, and various fees for buyers and sellers are just a few. I cannot now trust or believe what ebay say.

that is what is confusing, the buyers see a price of say £10.00 (which is the actual price they will pay) and then they see you saying that e bay will add their fee at checkout, so the buyers will then expect to get to checkout and be paying the £10 + an e bay fee, which is not a problem for them but could be for you if they were only prepared to go up to £10 and no further for the item.

Except every one of my items is on average a £1 more than they were before. My buying has stopped completely. I just won't pay it on principle.

I'm not sure that the buyer will decide when i have looked at Ebay labels it already says buyer chose so i think a bot decides it and that will be even worse

It is all a mess when you factor in BPF and SD.
Whatever happened to straight forward selling and buying and fees and charges being transparent.

It would make things horrendous.

These changes are horrible for a private sellers... Firstly sending off your item without being paid is bad enough. But then having to wait days after it's been delivered is outrageous. I sent an item, 24hr tracked and signed... The buy was out and missing the delivery. I messaged them to say the courier would try again next day, which they did and they missed the delivery AGAIN. It then went to the local dept... I messaged the guy to let him know, he said he'd collect it. Another 6 or 7 days went by, he still haven't collected it. I messaged him again... He said he couldn't pick it up till the end of the week. It was pretty much 2 weeks before I got paid for something I sent next day. I actually called eBay after a week to complain and asked them to pay me, they flatly refused.
I have some last bits to get rid of, after that I'm done with them... I'm not putting up with this nonsense.

I'm exactly the same apart from a item being collected by a buyer.
Luckily the items I sell will fit through a standard sized letterbox.
My recent issue was that one of the dimensions was a bit to big so even though I used 48hr tracked as usual it took over a week to get delivered.

Luckily it was a repeat buyer so I gave a part refund to cover the extra charge.
I'm down to the last 5 listed items and if and when they sell then great.
If not they'll stay as part of my collection. Then selling on here won't be a issue for the foreseeable future.

Another piece of positivity.....
Last Friday i posted an item RM next day special delivery. Asked if i wanted to pay even more for it to be delivered Saturday.......no thanks. RM delivered it yesterday anyhow 🙂 Ebay are telling me my money will be released tomorrow Monday 🙂 IF it is released Monday then these 2 days do appear to include week ends and not just "working days"

I had a parcel i sent second class on Wednesday, delivered on Friday and just withdrew the cleared funds to my bank account this morning.

To be honest i am rather surprised that they include week ends....especially Sundays 🙂

Some of us do understand that best case scenarios can happen, I'm one of them. What I specifically don't like is their wording choice.
"Funds will typically be...."
That one word changes everything.
It means they can do whatever they want whenever they want.
So whilst you and others are currently experiencing a "good service" it doesn't mean it will be that way for everyone or in the future for anyone.
I'm glad things aren't that bad for you & others but it doesn't mean it will stay that way.
02-03-2025 9:22 AM
Schhhhh..... Dont tell em,they will think of a way for charging extra for it
02-03-2025 9:25 AM
I agree about the word "typically" but there are various reasons why a hold may be put on someones money.
I agree......all it takes is the tracking not to upload property and things will go up the wall.
At the minute everything is working fine for us so i have no complaints. Yes it could change i may start moaning lol

no one has ever stated that it will stay that way, we are just talking from current experience. Not to mention that all companies etc do the maybe, perhaps, typically wordage on their sites. Its just a standard opt out and anyone who would believe that things will always be perfect and go according to plan these days (whether in regard to e bay or not) is delusional. I am just happy that so far the system is working (for me) as they said it would. I have had to wait the 14 (it was actually 13) days for one payment so far out of 11. I do not intend living my life in a negative world, hope for the best prepare for the worst is a good mantra.

This thread has various issues all mashed together. The one that stands out for me is that buyers are now paying more to ebay than they did previously.
I can't figure out why that's so upsetting. For many many years, up until last October, part of what the buyer paid was going to ebay. The buyers neither knew the exact amount, nor did they care. All they cared about was the price it cost them.
In the new system Ebay are displaying the price it will cost the buyer. Just as before. The only difference is that they've lifted the curtain and the buyer now knows the amount ebay are skimming off. Under the old regime surely no buyer with more than half a brain supposed ebay was a charity, running free servers, free support lines, directors who took nothing etc etc.
The only difference I see is that prices appear a little wonky now. If I really cared about that as a seller it would take about 5 minutes to create a spreadsheet with my preferred round figures in column A, and a formula in column B, something like =(A1 - 0.75)/1.04 (I've not verified that, DYOR).
Is that so hard?
There's a lot else on ebay I'm disgruntled about, especially Simple Delivery, and the effect of the new fees on low value items, but wonky prices really isn't an issue.

By the way, why is my previous post showing as message 136 of 133? Is there now some fee creaming off messages? 🙂

It wouldn’t matter if there were 10,000 similar threads, eBay won’t take any notice because they don’t give Sh*t. Only one thing drives them ££££€€€€$$$$¥¥¥¥

Yes I am in the same boat 🚢 as you
But what's the best place from here, they all seem to be the same.

It just seems to be this thread, like there are ghost messages we can't see!
