Can't get my head round withholding postage.

I've started a new account and cant work out why ebay are withholding postage costs from ME,when the buyer is paying. The items are being recieved by the buyer, funds are released after a couple of days but not the postage costs.Example to be clear-Buyer pays £3.50 postage,I use the ebay tool to get label at post office and duly send parcel. The £3.50 is then withheld from ME.What is that all about.

Buyer pays Ebay for the postage. They then provide you with a label.

You list an item for £10, you get £10.

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

That is not happening, the buyer is paying postage and im having the postage cost withheld. My listing's are £21+£3.55 postage,I am receiving  £17.45.This is happening on multiple sales of the same product.

From the seller hub, go in to orders - paid and dispatched. Above the photo, click on the order number. This will give you a breakdown of your sale - right side at the bottom of the page. You can view more details about the breakdown although it will require you to sign in again.

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

The example above was assuming the listing was with Simple Delivery - which your listing wasn't

Yours is £21 + £1.54 BPF then a delivery cost of £3.55

What you should get is £21 + £3.55 and with the £3.55 you can purchase the postage.

How are you buying the postage?

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

That is correct,I am buying the postage label via ebay(drop down box)gives me a QR code that I then take to the post office and have slowly banned.

How are you paying for the postage label?  Unless you are paying using PayPal, which only applies to Royal Mail and Parcelforce, then payment is taken from any available funds in your eBay account, which includes pending funds, or if there aren't sufficient funds available then from your bank account.  £21 - £3.55 = £17.45 so, unless you are purchasing the label using PayPal, that would appear to be correct.

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

I am paying for the postage via ebay, through the drop down box.THEY give me the qr code.I have available funds but they are not giving me the postage costs when the funds from the sale are cleared after buyer receives the item.

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

And that can't be correct because ebay are stopping postage twice.

Are you saying that they are deducting the postage cost from funds that were already available in you eBay account prior to the sale in question and then again from the sale amount?

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

You need to click into the order details, scroll down until you see "Order earnings" at the bottom of the right-hand side then click "View more details". This will provide a full breakdown of the transaction.

As this account was only registered in July you're unlikely to be using PayPal as a funding source for Royal Mail labels. My gut feeling is it is the way eBay are displaying the information that is the problem. I understand what you're saying; you're expecting to see:

Buyer paid £22.54 + £3.55 = £26.09

Less the £1.54 BPF = £24.55

£24.55 - label cost (£3.55) = £21.00

But eBay is showing you £17.45

You'll need to post the information - or a screenshot with all the buyer's details removed - that you obtain from following the instructions in the first paragraph of this post. Without seeing that information it is going to be almost impossible for anyone here to make sense of what eBay is showing you.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

This is it,it is showing me receiving £21,but I am not.I am relieving £17.45.So I am being charged postage twice.

Your previous screenshot (post #15) shows that you actually received £24.55 for each of the last 2 orders (£21 + £3.55) from which you then purchased the required postage labels (2 x £3.55) leaving you with an available balance of £42.07 (£21 × 2 plus 7p that you already had) which is correct.  So where are you seeing the postage charge being deducted a second time?

I'd agree - this is the screenshot to pay attention to. From what I can see, everything is correct.

Re: Can't get my head round withholding postage.

When the funds become cleared, the £3.55 is stopped again.I know and appreciate it says £21 but that is not happening. For what ever reason, ebay are stopping or at least withholding the postage.I've got sales for the same item going through now so I shall wait for everything to be delivered and funds cleared to see what happens.Maybe I'm getting  in a muddle with it(as said in title)I'll come back to it next week. Thanks for the input.
