Hi all, title is the TLDR, i sold a genuine pair of earrings that i owned, brand new, from the jeweller i worked at for 4 years.
i sold them to a lady and she’s had them for around 32 days now and wants to return them. She wanted to sell for a profit and ebay removed it as a counterfeit item, even when it’s genuine (why wasn’t I flagged when i sold it in the first place?)
I would like to refuse this return request because I don’t know if she’s worn them over the past 32 days and i cannot sell them as unused anymore.
So essentially what happens if i refuse the return request? Can she still issue a chargeback on her card and end up with both the earrings AND the refund? Is nothing sacred anymore?!?!?! :’(
Thanks in advance, and for listening to my rant

ebay's deadline is 30 days from date of delivery. It it's past that you can refuse the return or do nothing and the case will expire eventually. She has 120 days to claim from her card but she may not think of doing that.
Maybe you should accept the return. At least you'll be able to resell it.

'Not as described' chargebacks are one of the biggest risks to sellers on ebay. You lose the money and the item.
I think it's scandalous that there is essentially no seller protection for these.

To add to excellent advice, VeRO removing an Item does not necessarily mean it's counterfeit. It means the rights holder is blocking eBay sales (rightly or wrongly).

Good Morning edwfu
Personally, even though it may be over the 30 day limit, I would accept the return. Once received I would check to see if the earrings were the same as you sent and thus not switched in anyway.
Three hundred and seventy five pounds is an awful lot of money to put at risk plus the loss of the earrings should she do a charge back.
You are walking a very line line by selling very high value items with not much experience of eBay behind you. This situation may crop up again very soon as your high value items are a scammers magnet.
Good luck, you may need it.

In my last paragraph, meant to say thin line and not line line. As an aside if you look at the sellers Tiffany Large Heart Pendant offered for £465.00 it's remarkable that the shadow on the wall looks like a swan.
