Are eBay playing with business policies in accounts?
Reason for asking is, I went to change postage costs on a few items this afternoon in prearation for RM price increases. These are items which will be excluded from SD (under 100g and under £10 value)
When trying to chose the postage option and adjust prices it showed a policy which I hadn't created. Further investigation showed that 6 policies had been created without my knowledge or permission

Top 6 highlighted are the policies in question, bottom 3 are policies I created.

I created policies for payment, returns and postage and there were some policies very similar to the ones in your policies list.
This was during the last couple of weeks. I deleted them so it just showed my 3 policies.
The only other thing I can think of is, maybe some of your listings do not have your policies in place, creating those extra entries.

I had this happen to me. I was constantly deleting multiple policies that I hadn't created. I also found that the Locations that I had excluded had changed as well. I resolved it by opting out of Postage policies, resetting the Exclusions & using Templates to list from.

So, after doing some digging and speaking with CS. I seems that these listings can be deleted safely. eBay categorically deny creating any policies and say I must have created them and forgotten about them.
However, today a new policy appeared
This has been created by ebay as it is to do with simple delivery and their choice to force me into using SD.

Until proven otherwise I automatically assume CS are either lying, don't understand or just parroting Ebay rubbish.
As I was opted into Postage policies without warning & these phantom policies started appearing within a day or so of that there is no way I created them & then forgot about them. Before I got out of it I was deleting 5/6 at least every day.

@deanem72 are they just ebay auto-generated policies that are created if a revision fails on one or more listings? If you have a read here: Business policies | eBay and expand, "Why are there policies with some random characters in the policy name that I did not create?" then that may explain it.

This happens when u send offers to buyers on ur listings. They have to get the listing terms stated when u sent the offer so u cannot change postage until they either accept, decline, or it times out. I stopped doing it because it became a headache. Until the offer declines or it times out, u cant change the listing so it duplicates the policy on the listing. Switch off automatically send offers as well cuz itll just cause u nightmares haha.

I've just found some computer-generated business policies (you can tell by the name) . It seems that some of one type of listing(not all of them!) have been moved to some new policy and I cant switch them back.
This is infuriating - I have no idea why the system is behaving as it is; am I doing something wrong?
Pic shows one of the computer generated postage policies.

Have u got some policies on auctions or sent offers? If you change policies while an auction with bids uses it, or u have a pending sent offer....they will make a new policy cuz u cant change a policy after someone has been given the old one. Will only be able to change policies on all listings when there are no bids/pending offers. When the offers expired and/or the auction ends, u can combine the policies or delete the others.

No - there is o god reason for this as far as I can tell.
- I had 16 listing using this policy - all fixed priced listings that were minding their own business 😃
- 8 listings moved to some new duplicate policy
- I could not move these listings back to the original policy; on one occasion when I tried, ebay created yet another policy
- I had to create a new version of the original policy and use the bulk edit tool to update all the affected listings (thankfully this tool seems to word wonderfully)
- I then to deleted the unwanted policies
I noticed during this process that some of my other policies MAY be affected since I tried to update a affected listing and move it to another of my policies, this FAILED and ebay created yet another policy for me. Something is broken behind the scenes - i suspect there is some incompatible data stored in some business policies which means they can no longer be selected. (This is the behaviour I see)

Are they listings that have postage of either 1st or 2nd letter/large letter? Ebay recently changed these in their postage options so that letter and large letter are two separate things where they used to be lumped together as one. If your policies use the letter/large letter option then that may well cause ebay to create new policies using the split versions now.

Those of you who have additional postage policies appearing, do you set your postage in the item listing, or add the existing postage policy?
The former would create additional policies.
