I am planning on boycotting ebay until recent changes are reversed. Especially the poorly named Simple Delivery. Do you agree?

I have bought a few items, but nowhere near as many as I did before all the recent changes. However, I have stopped selling, and given all that I've read over the last few months, I will not be selling anything on eBay anytime soon.

Sellers cannot afford to reduce prices to cover BPF as we aren't charities. Its hardly worth checking accounts daily to see yet another zero sales. I have some books to sell. WoB offer me 50p each. I could list on ebay and waste my time as with BPF and postage private sellers cannot compete with book business sellers. Last book I bought cost less than the postage I would have to pay to sell one. May as well give stuff to a charity shop then at least helping a good cause.
Sellers used to have to pay final value fees, so your argument doesn't entirely hold water, though we could nitpick over the comparable levels of FVF vs BPF, especially taking into account the 70 or 80% reductions we would sometimes get.
Book sellers? I couldn't even compete with World of Books, Music Magpie and the like even in the old days for many of the books I would otherwise have been listing. Those companies are listing at prices below what I could even buy postage for, let alone leave me with a few pence beer money. I used to dump them in the giant book bin in my area, I think for heart foundation or some such. No doubt they were being pulped. Can't even do that now because the book bin has been withdrawn because some slimeball dumped dog feces in it.

and they have the cheek to call it simple - just spend an hour on the phone to them trying to sort this out. more post-truth marketing nonsense to overcomplicate things.

for 15 years i was a business seller on ebay - from june 24 to dec 24 i was having to pay out of pocket ebay shop listing fees because my sales were not covering the cost. in jan 25 i shut my shop down. as a royal mail business customer, and due to the vast amounts of post they "lose", i have a lot of credit and years ago they would send me a cheque but now it is kept on your account and taken from when your monthly postage bill comes in. so for £1.55 i get a bar code which is scanned upon delivery. ebay now want to charge £2.72 for the same thing. as an ebay buyer i would NOT purchase any item where i can clearly see the postage is a rip off. this simple delivery (anything but!) is killing me. i want to sell off remaining stock to get rid but now an item i was selling for £4.99 free p&p ebay want the 45p buyer fee AND the £2.72. i have no way of changing the post to either special or 1st class. items that may weigh more mean i will be out of pocket. today i had to put buyer pays postage which i know will be the kiss of death for my remaining items. i'll leave it like this til xmas 25 but if nothing happens (as being a private seller i have no expenses to pay out) i will just remove them all and throw them in the bin. ebay always told me they were a selling platform but now they have hi-jacked the post at a totally unaffordable cost. i used to buy regularly on ebay but i will not be paying a fee to buy and the extortionate postage. if ebay want to kill ebay the way woke has done to budwiser, jaguar etc then they're going about it in the wrong way. i'd rather pay a fee to sell as a private seller. i'm sick and tired of them sending me messages to send offers to watchers. am i supposed to pay my buyers to purchase my stock? i don't know who they employ to do these policy changes but i'm sure if they asked anyone who's been on here for 30 years then they could tell them what they are doing wrong. it's not like ebay are paying MY electricity bill OR my wages so to shaft personal sellers means that they just won't be using ebay anymore. if the graphs are showing ebay trending downwards why shaft the very people that use ebay?

It's interesting to note that the OP who was planning on boycotting ebay until recent changes are reversed has always had 500+ items listed - and still has.
Yet, they ask if anyone agrees - whereas they obviously do not.
Just saying.

Interesting observation. Speaking for myself, when SD was going to be universal on some date in April, I said I'd be switching all my items to local collect. Then discovered it wasn't universal. I still haven't been roped in, though I'm appalled by how many have been. Maybe Ian, like me, is in wait and see mode.

I always admire your positive side.
It's been exceedingly interesting to see so many individuals encouraging others to do something which they are not prepared to follow through on themselves.
I've always said that eBay's foray into postal deals (Shutl, Packlink for example) have been poor (to say the least).
Simple Delivery could only be a disaster - those who have dreamt this up either do not sell on eBay (so don't know the difficulties) or are just plain ignorant of how the postal service/carriers operate.
But it's down to individual choice - but those who encourage others to do something and not do it themselves ........................... ?
I'm glad I no longer sell and I really do feel for all those genuine private sellers caught up in this nightmare.

That plan must be a complex one considering how much you still have listed. Can you share your strategy and theory of stating one thing and doing the complete opposite?

You are mistaken, I have nothing listed on Ebay. Unless this is meant for someone else I would suggest checking your facts before posting responses to legitimate concerns of others.

Think the comment was made for the original poster who states they're boycotting eBay , but still showing 500+ items listed.
Perhaps.... ' Do I say, not do ........... ! ' 🤔

Our mutual admiration could escalate into a bromance!
I have to try to find the best way forward. Meanwhile I'm really bitter about recent changes. Hate ebay, hate myself. If only I'd had a crystal ball during Covid I could have used more of that time to complete my clearout. Now I'm struggling. I've looked at two other sites and have a list of others, but it's hard to find somewhere that ticks every box.
"I've always said that eBay's foray into postal deals (Shutl, Packlink for example) have been poor (to say the least)."
I'm so grateful to people in these forums. When I started lurking here I soon learned that while Packlink was fine when there wasn't a problem, it was a nightmare when things went wrong. So I never ever used it. I think dougbat20 was particularly vocal and rightly so, but also many others.

Yes exactly this it's for the OP. Sorry if I confused you. ✌️

Nope, I wasn't confused, it was another poster, ebobla12 ! No harm done, I'm sure ! 🤗

those companies are robbing people! they pay an absolute pittance for items and stick them up for sale on their ebay
