Agreed offer price , but at checkout price jumps

I agreed an off price for an item in the USA - eBay , when offer was accepted I could see that price and estimated shipping fees - and I knew there would be import taxes .

but when I go to pay now - the item price jumped up 20% , the shopping by 33% - and that wasn’t including the import taxes that was also added.

what is going on ?

Re: Agreed offer price , but at checkout price jumps

Yes, that's correct. The price you agree with the Seller is completely separate from the 20% VAT and any duty/fees, and from International postage. eBay makes this clear in theory

My best practice is to

1) enter my Country in the listing to see postage.

2) put the Item in my Cart to see VAT.

3) check the gov.uk website to know duty charges.

4) remember the courier will add fees to collect any duty.

Again, this is the Buyer's responsibility to know, not the Seller's.
