I started selling on eBay to get myself some money. All the orders were delivered to the buyer, however ebay restricted my account and put my funds upto £800 pounds on hold. They asked me to provide proof of delivery, i provided all the tracking details and proved to ebay that all the orders were sucesfully delivered. But ebay is now requesting irrelevant information that is extremely private and sensitive, I refused to upload this information and now ebay is asking me to wait for 170 days to receive my funds. I feel extremely stressed and frustrated by this as i rightfully deserve the money as all the buyers are satisfied with their orders but i never recieved my money, this is severely affecting my mental health, i tried to inform ebay that i deserve my money as i succesfully delivered the orders to the buyers. But eBay does not understand my situation is refusing to reinstate my account, and is threatening to permanently suspend my account and take my money. This is absolutely unacceptable as all my money is being robbed from me. I urgently need this money for my family's wellbeing but eBay is not releasing my money. Ebay is extrmely shameless for taking my money this way.

I don't know where to start here.
You are on a private account but were selling multiples of the same Nike clothing with no returns rather than selling on a business account.
In your about page you say 'Top quality 1:1 reps. Delivery within 2 to 3 weeks.'
Maybe eBay read that to mean they are fakes so they want to know where you are getting your stock from.

You reap what you sow....
Do things legitimately next time.

How can i claim my funds, i was not aware that selling on a private account was a issue.

What you were doing was illegal.

You would be best contacting eBay through the help section and request a call back and ask them how long it is likely to take to get the payout of funds they are holding.
Unfortunately I don't think you will be able to get the account unrestricted on appeal. For the reasons I mentioned, being honest with you it just doesn't look right, I took one look and thought they were fakes.

They indefinetly suspende my account, is it still possible to claim my money.

If your account is indefinately restricted then its in the region of 170 days that monies will be held. This allows for fees to be paid, and any other chargeback type scenarios.
Some of the points above mentioned by @technthread will be in part why you have received this, and each of your listings state contact us for other colours and sizes, this infers off site ebay sales, as only the active items (of which you sold multiples) are accountable for. I suspect the information eBay were after was where did this come from and they wanted invoices as they would have also suspected your account being incorrectly registered. IF you had provided this data, and correctly registered you shouldn't have had any problems.

Yes eventually you should get your money. They cant hold it forever unless all the customers try to return things to get their money back. Only eBay can tell you how long it may take you should speak to them by phone.

I imagine what flagged your account is you cancelled several orders after the buyer won. They come down hard on this (pretty sure I can only have 5 at most to get nailed by ebay). You have low feedback, are on a private account, making high priced sales, cancelling orders after buyer has won and won't give info on where your stock is coming from.
Can see why they've done it
Oh and 1:1 reps means you're selling counterfeits.

All fake goods as well.
With the 'delivery in 2 weeks' wording in their listings it's clear they are creating the listing, then buying the item from a fake replica site overseas and having them shipped to the seller.
Puzzling how anyone would think they could get away with it.
So yes, eBay will hold the money for quite some time and you never know, they may pass the info over to the police to investigate. It's something being really clamped down on now with fake goods and I know there have been cases on FB where someone was only selling a few fakes and the police were at their door, confiscating items and prosecuting people. That would probably be the first of my worries if I were openly trying to sell '1:1 reps' online rather than when I'll get my money.

Sorry, but i was not aware of this policy. I just decided to sell on ebay desperately trying to get my family some money on a suggestion from one of my friend.

I would suggest not a very good friend in this instance.

The policy of not selling fake goods?
It's illegal, against the law to sell or import fake goods full stop. It's not rocket science.
'People who sell counterfeit goods can face fines of up to £5,000.00 in a Magistrates Court and/or imprisonment for up to six months. '
As someone who knows a fair bit about the law (not as I've been in trouble, it's just a big interest of mine), it's a bit of a tricky one for eBay. If eBay are aware of you selling fake goods and that's the reason for suspending your account, they would be obliged to pass your details onto the police. If action is taken, you'll have to explain how your friend told you it's fine (and that won't wash with the law).
Those guidelines are purely the max and the maximum isn't ever enforced apart from very rarely.
You've learned a lesson regardless, don't sell fake goods online. Sure, you may think it's easy money but if you get caught, it's bad times.
What's really alarming is the fake Jordans you sold on the 4th were such great fakes that eBay have guaranteed the authenticity of them being genuine. That's sad news for that authenticity service if they are validating fakes as legitimate. It could cast huge doubt on that service and eBay have put a lot into launching it.
No sympathy from me I'm afraid. Fake goods is a bigger annoyance for me than the private account business issue as a lot of fakes are on eBay and it gives buyers doubts about buying from genuine item sellers. Costing many eBay businesses sales because people like you wanted to line your pockets dishonestly by knowingly selling counterfeit goods.
You've now modified your account about info from saying about 1:1 fakes. That's trying to cover your tracks but eBay will have the exact archived pages before updates so they'll still be able to see.
04-09-2024 10:29 PM
With regards to the fake Jordans I'd guess he messages the buyer after and asks for an address, nobody pays £70 for black cats thinking they are genuine. Thats the move most do but once you message them they then send you 50 pictures of other fakes, most tick a box though which allows to to bypass authentication which for obvious reasons I wont say. Reported plenty but rarely they are removed. If they passed authentication then we have a serious issue as they will be such bad fakes.

Did you get these funds back quickly or did you have to wait 6 months ?

If your funds are on hold you'll likely need to wait 170-180 days from the last order as you have 3 negatives from buyers calling you out for selling counterfeit product, which is illegal.

I'm in a similar situation now although I gave all info they wanted but still indefinitely restricted my account and are holding my funds. Were you able to get your funds after 170 days or so?
25-03-2025 7:16 PM
Hi, yes i recieved my funds. However, i cant sell anymore.
