Hi all,
Just a question of bad feedback from a buyer.
I recently sold an item to a buyer.
The buyer paid, then asked for me to keep the item until they could collect and left an excuse that they could not get out as their area was flooded, to which I agreed.
(Hoping they would make arrangements soon).
A week goes by and I hear nothing from the buyer, even after multiple messages asking politely when they can collect as I needed the space as a clear out.
Still nothing. After speaking with eBay advisors, was advised to cancel the order and to give a full refund - to which I honoured.
I relisted the item and sold it without any issues.
The buyer I had to cancel the order with then gets in touch within a few hours wanting to know why I cancelled and excusing why they’ve not messaged or arranged collection.
I have gone on my profile this morning and found they have left a negative review despite being given a refund and all of the events above.
Why can buyers with cancelled orders be given opportunities to leave reviews however, I couldn’t leave the buyer a review as my account won’t let me?
Has anyone else been in this situation?
(I have since raised a case against the review with eBay and kindly requested the buyer to alter or remove the feedback).

That sounds very unfair ( plus your neutral feedback which is positive).
The online request to remove feedback is not always the best way. Probably AI generated and they don't read all of the messages between you and the buyer.
If it isn't removed, then I would respond to say that you held it for a week for them before relisting.
It's annoying although anyone reading your feedback will not take any notice of the neg

Hi
I have had a similar experience, bad or negative feedback is so frustrating. On mine, I had not left the parcel in the correct place. Apparently I personally post and deliver ALL my orders even in Scotland!
I’ve also had a lady cancel her order and blame me for her cancelling the order! Work that one out!
On your feedback page there should be a “Reply” button and “Request revision” Perhaps request a revision of the buyers feedback. If that fails, as the buyer has the right to refuse to change the feedback then reply to the feedback as all future buyers can see how or why you were forced to refund the guy. Remember though you only have 500 spaces to write your reply so don’t make your response an essay.
I replied to my feedback comments with truthful answers or responses. I then leave negative feedback on their “buying feedback” page. Negative comments go both ways especially if you have tried everything to help someone.
Good luck.

if you can't get the feed back removed I would leave him a followup feedback all in capital letters explaining what he did .

Leaving negative feedback under a positive is against ebay's rules! The buyer can easily get this removed and you could get your account suspended. Your replies to your neutral & negatives doesn't put you in a good light either.
Negative feedback is something a seller never wants, but they happen and yes they can even with a cancelled order if it was you who cancelled it. I believe if they send a cancelation request then they are unable to leave feedback. It's how you reply that can make the whole difference for future buyers. Calling a buyer unreasonable is not the way to go about it even if they were.
Don't be petty, be polite, factual & apologise! Be the better person!

So you're admitting that you're actually a business seller using a private account since you stated you spend a lot of time and effort into locating each and every item you sell?
The Distance selling regulations state the returns process is to contact the seller within 14 days from delivery (not order date) and then the buyer has another 14 days to return the item. So you really should change that little note on your listings. To be honest though, you should probably remove your T & C's about returns, as the Ebay 30 day MBG overrules everything you have stated.
Trying to fob off a buyer being able to return an item by pointing out your incorrect returns policy isn't exactly trustworthy or truthful also calling the buyer 'an utter disgusting person' isn't very polite!
You have been on ebay for 18 years, you really should know the policies about leaving false positive feedback (you're simply NOT allowed to do it) & the MBG.
