hello every one I have read the new postage simple delivery for small private sellers like me and I am very concerned its going to be ebay who decides what courier they think I should use, and even more concerned the buyer will choose .this is hermes evri the worst couriers I have never known, I am selling my antique dolls and send them the quickest and safe with my choosen courier .fully insured and next day delivery which I have done with my items for over 17 yrs. I charge my buyers a set amount but if my box and packing goes over I pay the extra for peace of mind. and the thought of them being sent via hermes evri scares me and I would not trust them with a teddy bear, ebay must let me choose my own courier but I am told I have no choice, antiques no matter what must be sent in a manner they deserve and the simple delivery is not . simple delivery is just that for clothes shoes and not breakable .not for antiques and items of great value, I have had my dolls for over 50 years and simple delivery is not going to happen, I do not want to leave ebay but I will take my antiques some where else, so many great sellers have gone, but ebay does not take the time to ask why. ebay must look after the private sellers like me but I doubt it .the big boys are more important,

I like Evri, they're a lot quicker than Royal Mail and their tracking works. I don't know what people's problem is with them.
Now if you said DX Express that'd be different...

You'll be glad to know that Royal Mail, your preferred courier, is the other option for Simple Delivery.

I had a knock on my door last week. When I went to answer, no one was there. I looked down the street and saw a man near a car half way down the street shouting over, "Bin! Bin!" Puzzled, I looked in my grey bin, which had just been emptied, and found a parcel from Evri. The parcel was not even addressed to me but to another neighbour. If I hadn't been in, I would have put my bin away, none the wiser, burying the parcel under rubbish for the next collection.
I’ve only used Evri twice for business parcels, and both experiences were negative. They broke one parcel and lost the other, or rather delivered it to the wrong address because the delivery guy could not deal with a block of flats, forcing me to refund the buyers. I won't be buying from eBay if Evri is the delivery option.

From my understanding it is an option of 3 Evri, Yodal and Royal Mail.. for the Buyer to choose from?
For a short time sellers can choose , ie opt out and/or choose custom postage prior to listing... but until further information is released, no one knows. Then it will become mandatory?
Unfortunately the name portrays anything But " simple" for me.

It is just Royal Mail and Evri at the moment. There is no mention of Yodel in either of the help pages and they aren't listed in the Annex of the actual Terms & Conditions, only Royal Mail and Evri.

Antiques are on their list of excluded items so I think it would be Royal Mail not Evri for your dolls.

Yodel is not currently one of the options for a courier with Simple Delivery

There isn't currently a list of exclusions for the new simple delivery that's coming this year. They may, or may not, be the same.
It will all be about minimising risk to ebay though, so fragile items might still be excluded.

That's correct... but just to clarify that's the UK definition of "antique" - 100 years old - rather than the US 50 yrs

Actually there is a brief but not exhaustive list of prohibited items, which includes links to both the RM and Evri sites lists... follow the link and scroll down to "Restricted or prohibited items" and "Packaging guidelines"

Thank you for your message .I have used Evri for many years and there delivery and actions are not to be over looked .I have also had many things broke and chucked over my wall. This is confirmed by other sellers .this company is fine for non breakables but can not be trusted every couriers have faults but this one is worse

I do not think, not that matters as in Ebays world they do not care what you think but they should not be allowed to tell you or allow the buyer to tell you which postage option you use.
I have and will always use RM as for what I am selling off this is the best option for me and the buyer, apart from Overseas sales I always use stamps as I have pre purchased around 2 thirds of the stamps I require to ship the items sold out over the next 2 - 3 years, and as such protect the buyer and myself from any postage increases in 1st class stamps , so with this new Simple delivery I assume I will not be able to use these stamps as the buyer will pay direct and so probably have to pay more or have I misunderstood the proposed rules ?.

The following items aren't allowed to be posted with Simple Delivery:

Umm Interesting as I could say that each Item I sell comes with a free Matchstick or 1p stamp 😀

Not really as it is the postal couriers eBay use who dictate the restricted items and that would be breaking their regulations even if free.

Is it though as you are allowed to send a stamp in the post to be used, so I suspect it is just eBay's interpretation of the rules.

Just to clarify Simple Delivery will NOT be mandatory from 4th February and sellers will still be able to opt out when they create listings. The CEO did say it would become mandatory in Q1, so by the end of March, but it is not one of the changes being made next month.
This is from the email everybody received this week - you do have to follow links etc. to find it.
It is in the FAQs

I really don't like the idea of the buyer rather than me choosing the postage option but I am going to wait and see what happens.
