eBay Simple Delivery Package Not Scanned As Delivered By Royal Mail Form 02/08/2025

There seems to be a catalogue of errors from Royal Mail this weekend. From the invalid Simple Delivery Label debacle to now this. I spend a certain amount of time checking the smartphone Royal Mail App for an update on a delivery of a parcel on Saturday to a customer. Only to find out it has been delivered BEFORE tracking info has been updated. How do I know this? The customer left positive feedback BEFORE the package was scanned as delivered by Royal Mail. This is VERY frustrating when this happens as speedy payouts are dependent on packages marked as delivered on eBay tracking info. So I contact eBay customer services to explain the issue and ask wether it can be expedited by them. This is to no avail. I was told to contact Royal Mail customer service and get them to deal with it. Again after waiting 30 minutes on the line...absolutely ridiculous...no solution. Apparently because the item has been 'delivered'  so to speak they can't go back and scan the item into their system. All I got was an apology and told to wait 14 days if I want to make a claim as the customer might say they never received it. Well thats no good is it? The customer has the item. I'm lucky the customer left feedback to make me aware as some of them don't. Hence the automated take over of feedback by eBay. I don't know how on earth Royal Mail or eBay expect me to accept that as a solution when a speedy payout is dependent on items marked as delivered. If the Posties scanning device is defective or Royal Mail's tracking system is kaput then there MUST be backup systems in place to override and solve the problems so sellers DO NOT SUFFER. This is NO WAY to do business with customers who pay good money for a postal service thats failing. Don't get me wrong I am a big supporter of Royal Mail and prefer them over EVRI and UPS any day but sometimes I do wonder what planet they are on.  How does anyone else feel about this?

I also prefer Royal Mail, but the lack of scanning at delivery is one of my complaints about them. Both for their Tracked services and for their own Reference Numbers (free internal RM tracking that is scanned at dispatch and delivery). Hopefully as our busy Posties get used to all the extra scanning on delivery, this will improve!
