Hi, i assume this Simple Delivery is for personal sellers and not a business seller, can't see how they can force my business to use the Simple Delivery service as if so that will be it for me, i will close my account and open my own shop on the internet as fed up being dictated to.

According to the CEO it will be for private sellers only. Unfortunately, despite being asked for more info nearly 2 weeks ago, ebay staff are keeping quiet on the actual ins and outs of it, in as far as they still won't even admit it's going to happen.
Personally I don't see that ebay have the right to tell ANYONE which service to use for postage. They know nothing about peoples circumstances, it should always be the seller that decides.

eBay are still advising that:
(1.) the service is provided for private sellers (see terms)
(2.) sellers may opt out at the listing stage

Unforttunately, that ' opt out option' is only available now, that message came out to describe Simple Delivery when it first appeared and currently it is optional.
However, newer announcements as @kempseykate rightly explains 100% confirmation is not forthcoming, but eBay are kinda implying, it's going to mandatory for Private Sellers, at some point in time, next year.
There are many threads on the issues this will come to many Private sellers.

Its ebays drive to be like vinted, it is what Vinted do tell the seller which service to use.
The buyer chooses the most convenient option for them.
I can see the pluses in it if they do copy the vinted model.
At least you will know what your getting good sell for £10 you will get £10 no need to faff about with a postage option. Pack it send it a few days later get your money providing buyer is happy.
You still get some of the same hassles buyers trying to scam you .
I prefer ebay as a business but vinted also has its pluses.

OK, thanks. I haven't been here for a while and was not aware of these proposed changes.
I shall be interested to learn exactly what added protections buyers and sellers will have which they do not already enjoy, and just how much lower these competitive postal rates will be than those currently offered by RM and Evri.

It's just for private sellers (and even they can opt out).

Coming on 4th February and affects only private sellers who won't get payment until their item is delivered. Will be difficult for low-income private sellers who will have to pay for postage before they get paid.

Will be interesting. Doubt the postal rates will be more competitive than those currently offered by RM & Evri.

Evri has a substantial list of things that are excluded from compensation:
https://www.evri.com/send/what-i-can-and-cannot-send
Ebat are unclear as to whether these will automatically excluded from Simply Delivery or not. It certainly makes it hard to sell things on the list if they make it compulsory.

Indeed; when I use Evri I over-pack items and accept that if they arrive damaged or broken, it's unlikely I will receive any compensation. I do however like the fact that the parcels are sent tracked which stops the much-used "item didn't arrive" scam. Evri is still cheaper than Royal Mail and most other couriers so good for sending low-value items. I tend to avoid Evri for anything with a value of £10+ as almost nothing is included in their compensation scheme and they are notoriously difficult to contact when it comes to making a claim. You will be able to tick a box when listing NOT to use Simple Delivery and I think more experienced sellers may choose to do this but it is just yet another complication when selling.

hello the new simple delivery is very concerning I have been selling my antiques dolls and using my chosen courier insured next day delivery, the thought of evri and the buyers who will choose how my boxes are sent scares me .for ebay to say I have no choice .antiques no matter what must be sent in the right box and the shortest time in the post. and I must make sure they arrive safely, ebay needs to stand back .and let us make that choice .I would not trust hermes evri with a teddy bear there actions speak for them selves ,lost broken or chucked over the wall.

simple delivery is fine for items of reasonable value and non breakables but i am selling my antique dolls collection and i choose my courier with insurance make my own boxes and send them on next day delivery, ebay are saying i have no choice but they are asking me to send them via hermes evri .with there track record lost broken or over the wall ,I must have control of my boxes not trust ebay and the buyers to choose the cheapest route .antiques of value must never be sent by a courier who you can not trust .ebay needs to stay out of this one .so sending a antique doll for a tenner is not good value not if it gets broke

Assuming I can opt out of the “Simple Delivery” at the listing stage, what will happen to the many listings I already have and the current delivery options I have chosen? Also will the current listings be subjected to the surcharge EBayer are imposing for “ buyers protection “ ?

The buyer protection fee will be applied to all existing listings as well as new ones.
If Simple Delivery does become mandatory for eligible items, for private sellers, then it should only effect new listings.

I have been trying to work if I am going to be able to continue selling on eBay from the begining of FEBRUARY.
I have been a loyal "eBayer" since 2011 and have spent thousands of pounds with them and also selling a fair bit as a "Genuine Private Seller".
I have a disability in my later years which very much limits me to being able to get out & about. So when selling for the past year I am making use of the Royal Mail collection service.
I can't work out if I am going to be allowed to continue doing this from February when they introduce "Simple Delivery".
I can not understand how eBay can force one to use a particular delivery method.
Basically what I am asking is will I, come February, still be able to buy my post using Royal Mail collection service or sending by RM Tracked at the PO Counter ??

it .knowing eBay there is always some thing lurking in the shadows. EBay is
giving us small crumbs and then saying simple delivery is mandatory. With
only Evri Royal Mail.Royal Mail will collect from us but it’s got to be
within sizes. for the time being. But packlink is looming and there charges
are disgusting .we can opt out of eBay but the fall back will hurt us small
sellers . Most of what I sell is long boxes and I have used door to door
service for my collectables eg dolls and breakables for years .if this type
of courier is not available then what. Will the buyer send me the right
label pay the price and insurance of course not .most have never sold so do
not have a clue so it will be a cheap service .every thing about this is
anti private seller. Now eBay has are money for as long as it takes for the
parcel to arrive .loads of interest 4% added to seller listing before the
item goes live then .the buyers 4% added to full purchase .did some one say
private sellers keep all there money or paying more in fee’s to list .all
we can do is sit back and wait because it’s going to change not for the
better after 17 yrs of selling and more as a buyer eBay has forgotten that
it was us little sellers who stood by them in good times and bad .loyalty
means nothing .loads of answers are on google just ask the question but
reading this you will see it’s a shameful let down on the little private
sellers not forgetting the price buyers will have to find going forward

This is another Ebay scam, i used to pay £3.20 for a royal mail tracked 48h parcel up to 2kg, now ebay is aking for $4.60 with that stupid simple delivery, what kind of joke is this? All the lists and sizes are now wrong because iv done them before, and measuring items before sell them? Is ebay trying to get rid of private sellers forever? First the late payments, right after there was the extra customer fees which is an absurd and now extra cost on labels, measure before send and not being able to chose the delivery speed. Parcel force was £10 now £23 muahaha 🙂 Ebay is trying to get from private sellers the same amount as they get from professionals, taking extra on customers and extra on labels. My account is now closed. Opened today a vinted account. If you post a £30 item now, it will cost the customer something like extra £6.90 with delivery or you take it from your profit if you want to sell the item(professionals would pay £3.40 fee+3.40postage=£6.80. :)))) Hope ebay sink as deep as possible.

Think you will find that it will be applied to business sellers also. There is a YouTube video been uploaded where a business seller with a 1000 listings has had simple delivery added to some of his listings and unfortunately predicted the incorrect postage rates
.
