Simple Delivery compensation

Just to say that I only used once, so far so good.

However, some items I sell are more than £200, and I don't I feel comfortable using just Royal Mail 24 or 28.

After double checking with eBay's CS, I was told that:

*Royal Mail Special Delivery isn't provided.

*if a parcel is lost or damaged,  the courier will cover it all if via Simply Delivery.

It sounds too good to be truth, coz in that case,  I don't need to use Special Delivery and there's no need to worry for some worse case scenarios. However, I still have doubts because I asked 2 CS persons to send me the link of T&C. They promised and yet didn't. I found it a bit tricky, because even RM Special Delivery only covers £2000 or £2500 at maxium. Some luxury items, say a Rolex or Hermes would pass the limit easily.

Does anyone know where I can find this T&C?

Thanks.

According to the information provided by eBay, using Simple Delivery with the postage label provided covers you for damage and loss during transit with "no cover limit within Simple Delivery for eligible items; they are fully protected for the amount they sold for on eBay."

I would advise you to fully investigate what is meant by "eligible items" to prevent possible mishap.

Not sure where that is but Evri have a massive list of what they will not compensate. I have only sold a few high value items and would only use RM special delivery. Also the 5kg tracked medium parcel is missing on the Ebay SD. Have just taken my listings off and cancelled my shop like many people i will not be told how to post my items and who with. If you do not allow both options on SD they will charge the buyer more for the one that we use and i can only use RM collection.

Simple Delivery compensation

I don’t believe a word of it I’m afraid. Too good to be true. Also the Simple Delivery will soon become compulsory, well what if I don’t want to go via eBay for my orders, I don’t now due to Packlink being so totally useless. I am going to carry on going via Royal Mail website and once I can’t do that I am outta here!

Seeing as ebays simple delivery gives a choice to remove one carrier, say evri, and remain with just Royal Mail

I can’t see Royal Mail compensating for over what the 24/48  tracked offers

so WHY are Ebay NOT going to include special delivery

Its  alright saying couriers will compensate you without limits, yes, even if true, but I’m NOT going to be using them , am I?

😐🙄🙄

I just got the news from eBay. It turns out Simple Delivery will be the only option for delivery from some time in April, and the seller can't even opt it out.

I believe atm it's the trial period. No every order is given the Simple Delivery option. I believe in the future RM's Special Delivery will be included.

Yes, but they told you royal mails special delivery won’t be available to chose from within the simple delivery programme

I don’t understand why not, and who will pay for compensation for expensive items if RM special delivery is disallowed

They didn't tell me that. I mean, when I discovered Simple Delivery a week ago, I was told only Royal Mail 24 and 48 are available at the moment. The news I got was like an hour ago. I was told they will cover more options when Simple Delivery becomes the only method to get postage.

Ebay and Royal Mail will have agreed a dedicated contract for the Simple Delivery service with specific terms for compensation which more than likely will be very different to those offered to the general public.

Yes. The purpose of Simple Delivery is to make profits by forcing every user purchase the postage from eBay, so it makes sense that eBay or the courier needs to have a better compensation plan as they leave the sellers with limited options already.

I just learned Simple Delivery will be compulsory today!

I also use Yodel often, and it bothers me if it's not an option.

That’s interesting

Royal Mail have agreed to not allow eBay users to ship items  with RM worth over x  because they won’t compensate for them  through eBay

hmmmm

I found the whole thing very comfusing as I got different answers from eBay's CS.

Right now. It's confirmed that:

*SD will be compulsory.

*Only RM and Evri.

So how people even sell items worth more than £2500 on eBay?

Also, T&C on the elible items doesn't state very clearly.

Nice and clear isn’t it, NOT. First we need to read the ‘conditions’, then the prohibited items. But it doesn’t stop there, when you read the prohibited items on the eBay page you may think, okay fine. But, and here is the but what we next need to delve even deeper into the Evri and RM terms and conditions which Evri and RM have as their sites own and in particular read the prohibited items, hope you are still with me 😁. When we check these lists they state that prohibited items include (have highlighted these as they are very relevant to me but the list will go on), glass or any item that may contain small amount of glass and ceramics (also jewellery, antiques), it goes on and on. We WILL NOT be compensated for these items if broken or in the case of Evri lost! Thanks eBay! You have done us proud again!

The Ts and Cs are worth a read, a kindly user posted a link to these, as expected a lot of misleading from eBay once again!

Hope the user doesn’t mind but I am sending direct to you. Bear in mind you will need to look carefully to spot the fact that there is no change whatsoever with this SD malarkey, you are in just the dire straits as before

Many eBay users were surprised to find that sending anything other than a brick was prohibited by Evri.

The exhaustive list of prohibited items has been discussed at length here on many previous occasions... for anyone that missed out here they are again

Have you looked into sending a brick properly though, think you might find it is on there somewhere probably masquerading as something else 😂

I'm the op.

eBay has been always misleading. I had looked at the T&C before, and 'what's eligible' is not even mentioned there.

They should've at least given some guidelines on commonly sold items.
