So Simple Delivery is to made compulsory to private sellers and without a Royal Mail collection option? Well thanks a lot eBay, you just destroyed my shop!
I am disabled and I send 4-8 parcels per day using Royal Mail collection. I sell vintage China and the parcels are sometimes large and up to 5kg. I also live in a rural area and simply cannot take these to some drop off point.
Without home collection I am basically screwed.

Simple delivery doesn't apply to sellers who are correctly registered on an ebay business account. Upgrading is not only the solution to your problem but will ensure you are trading legally going forward.

Can you please explain to me why my hobby shop is incorrectly registered as a private sellers?

I should add I just spoke to an eBay Agent and he said it will still be possible to opt out of Simple Delivery and he said funds will be released when you buy a tracked postage label - NOT when the item is delivered. I hope this is the case 🤷

From where do you obtain the items that you sell?

I think CS agents are muddying the waters here a little.
You can opt out of Simple Delivery Now, but soon it will be compulsory for Private Sellers.
Watch eBay Announcements for when this will be implemented. If by chance, and we all hope this, the opt out is there, it will be in that announcement.

If you are selling your own possessions whilst having a clear-out at home then you're perfectly correct to use a 'private' account.
However, you described your activity as a 'shop' and then a 'hobby shop', so I suspect you're buying items to resell as a hobby or repairing / restoring items to sell. Unfortunately, that makes you a 'business' in both the eyes of the law and eBay's terms and conditions.
The UK Government definition is very clear here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-you-need-to-tell-hmrc-about-your-income-from-online-platforms#s...
Because you are a 'trader' (business) in the eyes of the UK Government, you also fall into eBay's definition of a Business and are required to have a business account as detailed here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/selling-policies/business-seller-policy?id=4710
By buying goods and selling them on a private account on eBay - you are technically in violation of their terms and conditions, but more importantly, you are operating outside the UK 'Online and Distance Selling Regulations' as detailed here: https://www.gov.uk/online-and-distance-selling-for-businesses

Hi!
Don't worry. By the time it will be compulsory, eBay will allow sellers to ship via Royal Mail and have their items collected.
All the best to your business!

On a side note -and not to hijack this thread. I would like to ask if anyone who experiences health issues, difficulties, disabilities ( whether these be medically registered disabiities/aiments or not) and the like how/if these changes would affect/impact them to be able to continue to use the site and offer their " customers" a service in a way which has been working for them and is now altered due to the " changes/rules etc.
This is nothing to do with if you are in receipt of any benefits or not , HMRC etc - I am actually asking the question regarding the implementations of which eBay have introduced / will be introducing regarding Simple Delivery or any other " thing" which could make eBay less favourable/user friendly to continue in the manner that you have become accustomed or the " work around" you need to do due to your " challenges", and if these will be affected; whether these be physical or mental or emotional ( so as not to exclude anything)
Please do not share your actually medical history / ailments as this is not a private space and your private information should not be privy to all and sundry. Just in general terms, and if these " changes" affect significantly, how will you go about making it work , if you can or will it prevent you from continuing ?
I would appreciate positive exchanges/ expressions as to avoid any unnecessary conflict.
I do hope I am making sense.
As I do think eBay will be/are bordering on discriminatory " practices" to those who are " less-abled "
Edit.. spelling

Unfortunately eBay don’t seem to have thought about those sellers who are unable to get to post offices or drop off points. Regardless of whether that’s due to a disability, commitments or just logistics. It’s a massive oversight on their part and I hope they review. What a shame they didn’t consult with sellers before implementing such drastic changes.
I regularly sell on eBay, working my way through years of family hoarding. Many people have spent a lifetime collecting and now sell/clear out. It’s sad to see that concerns raised about this discriminatory change in policy get pounced upon/highjacked by business sellers wagging their fingers.

Collection is available with Royal Mail but has to be booked on the Royal Mail website/app after the label has been printed. Thsre isn't currently the option for Royal Mail to bring the label to you.
Ebay has stated that other collection options will be added at some point.
