Royal Mail did not collect

Yesterday, I suffered my first 'simple' delivery. 

I clicked the RH box of get prepaid lable webpage to book a RM collection, set the day and safeplace and booked ( supposedly)

Had no confirmation emails .  Postman came today with no knowledge of the collection

After the booking, I did however click get prepaid lable , would this cancel the RM collection booking?

I will now have to book a RM collection on their website and pay 30p and also print my own lable or go to the post office which I have not done for 1 1/2 years now with faultless  RM collections ( before 'simple' delivery)

Got ebay 'help'  to ring me, he did not have a clue and suggested I contact RM !!.

eBay is correct, it is a Royal Mail issue. When you book an RM Collection they consider it an 'extra item' as that will be collected by Postie as a 'best endeavour' service. So they don't commit to collecting it! If they are unable to collect, you can rebook, but have to pay 30p again!

If you are friendly with your local Postie, do you know that they can take a few packages from their round each day as a courtesy (without booking)? It is a paperwork hassle for them so save for emergencies!
