Royal Mail now has Ofcom’s approval to deliver 2nd Class Letters on alternate weekdays and will remove Saturday deliveries. However, Royal Mail has not set a go-live date, meaning as it stands currently your delivery estimates and seller metrics will continue to stay exactly as they are today.
We’re working closely with Royal Mail to understand their rollout plans and timeline. As soon as we have more detail on when these changes will actually happen, we will be able to share another update.
These upcoming changes will directly impact 2nd Class Letters only. Large letters, parcels and 1st Class services will not be impacted by these changes.
What you need to do
- Check your listings and postage policies.
- Choose Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter (not the generic “Royal Mail 2nd Class”).
- If your item is over 24 cm × 16.5 cm × 0.5 cm or 100 g, switch to Large Letter or another service.
- Carry on dispatching as normal.
Estimated Delivery Dates (EDDs) will be reflective site-wide before Royal Mail’s new delivery pattern starts for 2nd Class Letter
How the new pattern will work
Royal Mail will still aim to deliver 2nd Class Letters within three working days of collection.

Quick FAQs
Is the new delivery schedule now live already?
No. We’ll share a further update when Royal Mail confirms the start date and we will adjust EDDs accordingly to reflect the new schedule.
Will my metrics be hit?
Not if you’re using the correct service code; a short grace period will follow launch.
Why separate “Letter” and “Large Letter”?
We split them on 23 Apr 2025 for EDDs to stay accurate once the new delivery schedule starts. Older listings will continue to show the old service code.
Do Simple Delivery listings need changes?
No, this will not impact simple delivery listings as they use a fully tracked service.
